Agreed. The Sox have made tons of mistakes but I don’t think passing on Vientos is one of them. He has a similar profile to Vargas and Sosa. They already don’t have enough room for Sosa as it is so I’m not sure where Vientos would’ve fit on this team anyway.

They already had this guy last year and DFAed him. What could have possibly changed for them to want him back.

The problem is that most pitchers are right handed. McGuire better not be getting much if any playing time over Quero, even if he’s the better left handed hitter of the two as of now. Quero needs those at-bats to continue improving from the left side.

They already had Lee who is significantly younger and has had a much better spring. I just don’t understand why they would push him to the side to give McGuire a guaranteed contract. That said, ideally neither will play that much so it doesn’t really matter.

Hagen’s line looks good. Nice to see.

I don’t think Lee had much value anyway. If anything, Teel going on the IL probably opens up another spot for a position player like Mead or Pereira.

Annoying but could be worse. Still 2 weeks until Opening Day so hopefully he only misses 15-20 regular season games.

His reaction had me concerned. He looked really angry. But he is also a huge competitor so maybe he was more angry that he had to leave the game than the injury itself. Hoping for the best.

Of the two Rule 5 guys, I think they have a better chance of shielding Alberto since he’s a hard thrower and a pure reliever. They can just hide him in garbage time until he proves himself. If they can find a way to keep Paez as well and develop him in the minors, that would be nice.

I saw people discussing if Paez could be the PTBNL in the Hicks trade if the Sox like him but don’t want to keep him on the MLB roster. I’m not sure how that works though since he’s a Rule 5 guy.

I think Burke will have to show something early in the season or else he will move to the bullpen, which I truthfully wouldn’t hate. I think his stuff would play up. Cannon on the other hand is probably a lost cause at this point.

I honestly wouldn’t be that surprised if the rotation by the end of the season is entirely different than what it will be on Opening Day, except for maybe Shane Smith.

Sosa at 3B is kinda interesting. Wonder if they are trying to showcase him to other teams.

Even if his velo is the same, I think he will be better than a lot of people believe. Not being a hard thrower gives him less margin for error, but he can still develop into a quality pitcher.

Well he’s also like 78 years old. Hawk did the same thing towards the end.

I think Robert would have benefited a lot in this new look lineup and not having to be “the guy” anymore. But we’ll never know.
