Well, it's that time of year again....2015 edition
QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 22, 2015 -> 08:11 AM) 10. D-backs 72-78 11. White Sox 72-78 12. Rays 72-78 13. Red Sox 72-77 14. Mariners 73-77 15. Orioles 73-76 This should be an exciting race to the finish for that top ten pick! I believe in our ineptitude to do it!

Who would you rather see get more PA's in 2016 for the Sox
Trayce for sure, he has more power, plays considerably better defense, and doesn't have the horrible approach that Avi does at the plate.
-
How many of last off-seasons "big" moves would the Sox make
None of them. But it's funny how everyone now wants to stay away from NL players because of two busts.

Samardjiza believes he was tipping pitches
QUOTE (Mike F. @ Sep 21, 2015 -> 03:10 PM) Why wouldn't he say this? It's not like he's just going to admit that he's been trash for a good 3/4 of the season. This is bologna IMO. I need to see an improvement over several starts to believe this. Tipping pitches makes a lot more sense than Samardzija suddenly forgetting how to pitch and becoming the worst pitcher in baseball (which he has been since the ASB).

Sox vs Tigers Game 1, 12:08 first pitch
Are we forgetting that Samardzija has a shutout against the best offense in baseball this year? In the Cell no less. Pitchers who finish the season with ERAs > 5 do occasionally have good starts, just like pitchers who have ERAs below 2.50 occasionally get lit up. Nothing to see here.

Sox vs Tigers Game 1, 12:08 first pitch
This is a big series for draft position, I hope the post-ASB Samardzija shows up.

Gammons thinks Shark gets QO
There's still virtually no risk that Shark takes the QO IMO. It's a no-brainer to offer it to him.

2015 Cubs Catch-All thread
The Cardinals were bound to have pitching problems eventually. They've been getting very lucky all year with LOB% and in RISP situations.

2015 Cubs Catch-All thread
Why are the Cubs starting both Wood and Haren back-to-back again? Is this just their new rotation schedule so that Arrieta is lined up for the Wildcard game?

9/18 at Cleveland Indians
QUOTE (Mike F. @ Sep 18, 2015 -> 03:01 PM) Yep, and those teams repeatedly destroy Sale because they see him 4-5 times a year each. Sale's ERA would be a full run lower if he was in any other division IMO. Because if he were in another division those teams wouldn't be seeing him just as much? That makes no sense. Why don't we own every pitcher in our division then if we see them so often? He has a rough ERA against every ALC foe this year sans Cleveland (2.45 ERA), but last year he was fine. Detroit: 2.25 ERA Cleveland: 2.57 ERA Minnesota: 2.95 ERA KC: 2.70 ERA I wouldn't read too much into it.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 18, 2015 -> 12:45 PM) It would still be really nice to get Jose Quintana a bundle of wins. We owe him. Still crazy that he has yet to win 10 games in a season.

Dan Haren's picture on MLB Gameday is terrifying.

QUOTE (Mike F. @ Sep 18, 2015 -> 12:16 PM) Except for tonight. I want Sale to get as many wins as possible. I thought we've all agreed that pitcher's wins are a stupid stat? I haven't paid attention to it in years.

Athletics at White Sox
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 03:12 PM) Olt/Crede and Shuck/Quentin bringing back some memories of 2008 with jersey numbers at least... We're already 25% of the way to the Royals' stretch of no playoffs for 28 years. Yay! Want to bet we won't make it that far?

2015 Cubs Catch-All thread
This series just reinforces the idea to me that the race for homefield in the Wildcard game doesn't really matter. If this score holds the Cubs will have taken 3 out of 4 in Pittsburgh. Really doesn't look like it's going to matter whether the game is played in Wrigley or PNC at this point. I'd give the Cubs a slight edge either way.

Pirates melting down right now. Even our buddy Clayton Richard is getting in on the action.

Ventura wants that top ten draft pick too.

Maddon has a really quick hook on his starting pitchers.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 09:34 PM) No decision for Arietta. Who honestly cares about pitcher's wins anymore? It's arguably the worst stat out there.

2015 MLB Catch-All Thread
With Keuchel and Gray getting lit up this week, feels like Price is in the lead for the Cy Young right now, especially if the Blue Jays win the division

9/16 Athletics at White Sox
Damnit EJ, all I wanted was no homers. Also, it feels like after tonight Abreu is definitely going to get 30/100.

2015 Cubs Catch-All thread
That was a crazy play to end the 8th, this game has been very entertaining. I hope the Wildcard game is like this.

My/Your Off Season Plan
QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 02:22 PM) I don't know if I should laugh or cry at Melky's salary for 17. You didn't even put LaRoche's salary in here. Because LaRoche will be gone by then.

My/Your Off Season Plan
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 10:17 AM) Haha you will def get flamed for saying that about Micah and Avi but I agree with you. Not really, there are few Avi supporters and Micah hasn't proven anything yet.

9/16 Athletics at White Sox
I just want EJ to not give up a dinger today.
