Why is it unreasonable to question why they did not try to see if Sosa could play the OF in winter ball or spring training? We had Eloy out there for how many years? I don't remember Viciedo being a gold glover. Jon Jay. Juan Pierre. Many others. Our offense is a problem and Sosa was productive offensively last season when he was given at bats which he was not this season.

That was actually my point although I do think Sosa should've gotten more at bats mostly by DFAing Benintendi. I am just amazed that they run Meidroth out there every day mostly at leadoff.

FYI...Pregame host, when he was speaking with Jim Callis during rain delay theater, said he does not think Sam is getting called up yet. They supposedly want him to get more reps in LF at AAA before bringing him up. So we will see. I did think it was funny how Callis said Antonacci will be ok in the outfield....."he's not going to be Vaughan or Gavin Sheets out there."

A few random thoughts about the offense. I am disappointed that the offense looks so anemic after looking decent after the all star break last season. Honestly, I did expect a regression from Colson this season just because you do see that in second year players often. Let's see how he adjusts. I am not shocked by the slow start by Murakami as he learns a new league. I do not know if he was normally a slow starter in Japan like we used to see from Abreu. Finally, when your offense is this anemic Sosa should not be sitting on the bench. Give him at bats and he will produce the offensive numbers this team needs. They clearly are not going to play him at 2B and I have no idea why they did not have him in the OF in Spring Training so it looks like he will have to DH. Benintendi is done, just DFA him.
