Kimbrel will be traded at the trade deadline to the Mariners for LHP Ryan Buchter and Billy Hamilton.

Just a couple of thoughts and then I will hang up and listen. The fact that Kimbrel is still on this squad is frustrating to me. Did Hahn accept the option because he thought he had to get something out of what ended up being a bad trade? Pride is a dangerous thing. Sometimes you just have to admit a mistake and move on. That would have been paying the buyout. Did Hahn think that he would get a valuable piece or pieces back without paying some of Kimbrel’s salary? In that case it seems that he misjudged the market. Did he actually intend to bring Kimbrel back to pitch on the South Side this season? If you are trying to market him as a closer to try to trade him later in the season, then you almost need to have him close out games. I would be disgusted to see maybe the best closer in baseball in Hendricks demoted for a guy who can’t get comfortable in a non-closing role. On the other hand, if he is bringing Kimbrel back to set up again then that is a quarter I want in no White Sox jukebox I’m listening to. Maybe Hahn will still trade him before the season. Maybe Kimbrel with be a dominant reliever again this season. I will be very happy if they want to prove me wrong.

I was really upset about Hahn picking up that option and so far not getting damn thing for Kimbrel but then a little bird reminded me....

Yes, the days of Nicky Delmonico, etc in the OF need to be over for awhile. And as with Palka, I liked Delmonico on those rebuilding clubs and I'm happy to see he was brought back to the organization to coach.

I liked fat Palka a bit...he could hit with some pop. I did not like skinny Palka...he could not. It's a lot like Santa....skinny doesn't work. And I do know....neither version of Palka could play the OF worth a damn.

I can't handle 1....I do however have an imaginary dog that I take for walks during the season when GameThreads get too crazy.

I've really grown to like Engel but to count on him is foolhearty....he's injured every season. Leury is good for a couple of trips to the DL a year as well. Billy Hamilton.....come on down....you're the next contestant on the White Sox revolving OF.

That would be a tremendous end of the off season indeed. If the Sox are not willing to eat some $$ to get back a decent return for Kimbrel...that would be some bullshit.

When players I dislike go to teams I dislike, it makes my rooting interest life easier. Just wish they still had Donaldson to really make it easier for me. Don't like to spread my hatred too thin.

If I remember correctly, Crochet lost a couple of those games simply by giving up 2 softly hit rollers in a row to give up a run.

Manfred update coming....in the 11th, 2nd base will be eliminated altogether as runners will go from 1B directly to 3B. I'm excited for this change.
