  1. Ok, you have the choice to trade for the Brewers front office or the Brewers owner...which do you choose?
  2. I guess Rick and Kenny can stop scouting Trout's relatives and friends.
  3. Does Eloy have another little brother that we can sign? That seemed to placate him a little when he wasn't called up at the end of last season. 😁
  4. I am not counting Jay and McCann as players to target when you are serious about being competitive. Nova should be a decent innings eater and veteran presence. It seems that you do have to overpay to get good bullpen arms. Listen, I wish the Sox would be in on the bigger free agents but clearly they will not be and I am done with hoping that they will. I am not going to start rooting for another club so I just hope that a strategy of targeting the right guys to work with a younger core that is going to need to be good works. I do agree with you that this was a crappy offseason.
  5. I think if they are going to use a robo ump it should be Bender from Futurama...that would be entertaining as hell. Maybe R2D2 on Star Wars night.
  6. I think this season's record will be better just because the pen is improved. I do not expect them to be much better than a .500 club in 2020 and then vying for the playoffs in 2021. I do not expect the Sox to be players for any of the big free agents but I do expect them to be in the hunt for the next level down players that can help fill out a nice roster. I hope if that is the route they take that they will be aggressive early in the free agent season with a little more than market value approach to sign them quickly before other teams start heavily bidding on them. The less than stellar free agents are getting shorter term deals these days and that is right in the Sox wheel house...unfortunately.
  7. I don't want to hear anyone on this site complain about attendance again...our AAA affiliate draws great and those players will be here someday and bring their fans with them
  8. Fornication Night?!? That might be one that The Hawk would come back to call..."You know who was the best fornicator I ever played with Stoney?"...
  9. I love the effort but it's Spring Training Nicky, stop crashing into walls.
  10. Hey we just might have something in Manny Banuelos...if we can score at least 12 runs a game for him I like his chances
  11. Boy the thread title is not kidding with the "enter at your own risk". How did we get into a bashing of Gay Pride day at the ballpark? It is actually a pretty cool tradition all around major league baseball.
  12. Every time I think about Hahn talking about unprecedented financial flexibility, I feel like Albert Brooks character in the movie Lost In America when he gets mad at his wife about losing their nest egg. "Rick, you can no longer use the words unprecedented or flexibility because you clearly do not know what they mean!!!"
  13. Did I read gameday correctly that Castillo had 2 throwing errors to let runners score in the same inning? Wasn't he another friend of Manny that was brought in?
  14. Ok, I need to get something out that popped into my head while driving around today and this seems to be the best place to post it. When the White Sox went after Luis Robert they did what they had to do to pay what was necessary to land him. I commend them for that, Robert is a true multi tool player who could be phenomenal. The thing is he is a young international player, players who will always have an inherent risk of turning into not much at all. Look at all the detractors on Moncada and he was somewhat seen as a can't miss player (For the record, I do think Moncada will have a nice career but I digress). The Sox were willing to invest in Robert as well as paying extra with the penalty...but they are not willing to pay the going rate for 26 year old top free agents, one of which is an absolute marketable superstar who could change the face of the ballclub? I am sorry, I just do not understand that. Oh, and once again...Kenny just shut up!!!
  15. Yes he did have a very nice career. That was one of those trades that was actually future value for future value. You do not see those too often these days...someone usually ends up on the wrong side of the deal.
  16. And the guy we traded Cameron for had a hell of a career for the Sox...Paul Konerko
  17. When Castillo is your clean up hitter, that is not a daunting lineup...Yes, Yes I know I won't go there about who is leading off
  18. I voted Hahn and JR...JR because he just will not spend the kind of money necessary to sign the top free agent talents...Hahn because he made it look like Jerry would pay the amount necessary with his unprecedented financial flexibility talk.
  19. Voted same as I always have. Listen some on the radio, watch alot of games, watch some post game, listen to White Sox weekly, go to some games...it's a sickness I think. For crying out loud, I've found myself following and posting on spring training game threads!!
  20. "You're opinion of me holds no cash value"
  21. Kenny, what is the slogan going into this year? "hmm...Your 2019 White Sox, eh the bullpen should be pretty good...we hope"
  22. Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress indeed.
  23. Ah, the true scheme is revealed...I have figured it out...Rick Hahn is one of the admins here..."Now how can I drive up the post counts and pull some in some of those long time lurkers?"...Damnit Rick, you pulled me in!!!
  24. Great to hear the confidence, Ray. It does seem that we have some nice starting pitching depth in the minors. What do I know?...I actually think that Carson Fullmer is going to be an important part of our bullpen in a year or two 😁
  25. Does it kill the rebuild if Giolito is not a top of the rotation starter? In my humble opinion, no. But if he is not at least a capable #4 who can eat up innings, it sure does not help especially if Dunning is not the pitcher I thought he might be.
