  1. Personally I'd rather just have Wimpy fill in...but whatever.
  2. There is a showing of the movie Field of Dreams on the Jumbotron after the game. Hmmm...Interesting timing. I am impressed how they kept it all secret.
  3. That is a terrific story. Driving through Iowa once I played a little pick up game with a few people there who were also just driving through. It truly was an awesome thing to do. Made me feel like a kid again for a little bit. Since my wife was going to college in Iowa when they were filming the movie, she encouraged me to try to get tickets to the game but I'm betting they are going to be A) Tough to get and B) Quite Pricey. But bless her heart for just saying "oh are you going to go?" when I told her about it.
  4. I truly get a lump in my throat every time Kostner says "hey...Dad...wanna have a catch?" Gets me every time. Coming from a baseball nerd who usually watches his VHS copy of the movie once a year.
  5. The Saxophone sounds like a fun idea. But to be honest with you, if the atmosphere was consistently like I was hearing over the TV at Oakland I would probably not go. That would be headache inducing for me.
  6. Not one bit in my opinion. I think that would be perfect actually.
  7. Kinda needs to be the White Sox the first time they do it I would think. Plus I heard the Cubs wanted to play and they told them to "stuff it"...haha
  8. Yep, they really did try to...go the distance...sorry did it again
  9. If you build it....oh never mind I just remembered you think the movie sucks.
  10. If he is still on the team, it might be a way to finally get rid of Jon Jay... He goes back on a ball into the cornfield and never returns.
  11. I played a short pick up game there once while driving through. If I remember correctly it is a bit short. They might need to cut back some more corn or the Yankees might hit 30 home runs at least. One other thought, will they put up a fence? If not, I would love to see someone like Engel go back on a bomb and try to run it down by heading into the cornfield.
  12. I agree with you, plus I am smiling at the prospect of the installation of a Dylan Covey squished penny machine at Sox Park. Keep and eye out for the Jose Paniagua Mold A Rama machine coming next season.
  13. If Santiago is a boomerang like Stone said, what is Covey....a bad penny?
  14. I also think that Abreu will be back next year. I believe they always wanted Jose here for when Robert comes up so he is as comfortable as possible. But as a side question: Is there any chance that Sheets would be ready to join the big club to begin 2020? I know that Vaughan is the future at 1B but I am intrigued if Sheets could be a Left Handed hitting power option for DH/1B?
  15. Actually not weird at all. That is the first way I heard it pronounced by someone (don't remember who) but obviously that was wrong. I personally don't care how he pronounces it or even if he changes his name to Yolmer or even Yonder as long as he eventually plays anywhere near what he's been doing in AAA. I am beyond excited to see him and Madrigal on the South Side next year.
  16. Steele has really been a doubles machine lately....I like it
  17. Boomerang with a nice job getting out of trouble in the bottom half and we are scoreless after 1 inning of play
  18. I can't wait for his MLB debut and the Chuck Garfien pregame taking 20 minutes to discuss how to accurately pronounce Robert.
  19. Could not catch any of the game....Cease got the win but how did he look? I'll hang up and listen,,,thanks.
  20. The Royals and Tigers should still suck and need to be feasted on next year so I expect them to be in the playoff hunt. Need to spend $$ in the offseason though and get some quality MLB arms in here and someone to play RF.
  21. The OBP, speed and power will be fun. I agree with you that home runs are great but I love to see Timmy and Yoan run the bases. And I think Madrigal will be right there with them.
  22. Speaking of spelling, am I the only one here who needs to look up how to spell Buehrle every time? I just did again now.
  23. In fact it's been the other way around. I can think of at least a couple of times that someone in our division has made the playoffs solely on how badly they beat up the Sox that year. Maybe the Sox can compete for a wildcard next year if they get the job done against the Tigers and Royals.
