How about multiple DHs for anyone who is only good defensively? That might help the future White Sox with all the possible DH options.

I'm expecting a big game from the former AFL MVP...Engel. -
Steve Stone with a dose of reality for Sox fans
wegner replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't disagree with Stone that Timmy Anderson is the leader of this team but to go down the toilet like they have since the Allstar Break is very disappointing. I am not expecting a big beautiful house from the team this year, but I would at least like a nice little SheShed like State Farm is gonna give that lady in the commercial. -
He is a tremendous defensive outfielder. If only MLB had the rule where you could steal first base, the man of steal would see his OBP skyrocket.

I loved Willie. For some reason that name reminds me of another guy...Pablo Ozuna. His walk off bunt was an unbelievable end to a game!!

I am looking for nominations for the All Time White Sox players who weren’t too good on the South Side but had that “great clubhouse presence” feeling attached to them. These players could have been mediocre all their career or just with the Sox. Take Ken Griffey Jr., an undeniable hall of famer for his career. Then take White Sox Ken Griffey Jr, a lighter hitting DeWayne Wise type but with less range. But thanks for that throw in the Blackout Game, Ken. That was great fun!! Now to get the recency bias out of the way…I nominate Yonder Alonso.

It's interesting that they called him a 1B in that article. I figured he was always an OF.
-
I was actually thinking about him earlier today and wondering why the Sox did not take him especially with their past history of drafting relatIves of staff members.
-
Oh no, are we gonna see his "no warming up" ass on the South Side again this year?

Abreu unhappy with roster decisions (seems to want Luis Robert up)
wegner replied to Jose Abreu's topic in Pale Hose Talk
We want to give Cordell an extended look so it wouldn't be fair to bring up Robert now. -
I expect him to be a doubles machine when he takes over in RF in 2021. He will be able to spray the ball around the field and also turn on some balls for HR. He might just not have the power many want in a RF but I'm looking for a 1-9 lineup that puts the pressure on opposing pitchers with no let up.

Anybody else wanna get on my Steele Walker bandwagon? There's plenty of room for more!!
-
25th+ guy...he will probably be back in the show when someone gets hurt to fill in. I like him, probably because he's a lifelong Sox fan, but he is what he is and not more. I hope he likes Charlotte or Omaha or whatever AAA affiliate he plays for the majority of the rest of his career. Then let him come home when he retires and take over for Mike Huff at the Bulls/Sox academy.

Abreu unhappy with roster decisions (seems to want Luis Robert up)
wegner replied to Jose Abreu's topic in Pale Hose Talk
You know what, I get wanting the extra service time out of Robert and keeping him down because if he does what he can, you are looking at superstar money that the Sox will probably not pay. Plus, money wise he does not really have a complaint with the bonus he was paid. But Madrigal will not get superstar money, so let's bring him up now and get him acclimated to the Major Leagues. His glove will play now, he would be something to watch the rest of the year, and Yolmer can watch over the Gatorade jug just in case we win another game. -
Someone saw him at O'Hare and Charlie said "how the hell did I get here?"
-
Engel might get another Gold Glove nomination with all the homers he gets to rob with this pitching staff.
-
"Jicama, huh. That's an interesting choice from the root vegetable family. You ever have a Jicama, Stoney?"
-
I just want to say something positive, so I think the Sox still win this one!!!
-
I seem to remember if we won out our last 4 games before the break, we would have the same record as the Cubbies....I dreamt that right?!??
-
I don't deny that, but you have to admit that the offense has been pretty craptastic since the All Star break as well.
-
Until we start hitting, maybe it should not be called the heart of the order....maybe the spleen or the appendix?
-
I love the picks of Madrigal and Vaughan but I hate being in the position of picking high every year...plus what I hate about the whole rooting for a higher draft pick is that it is another year gone and every other team is picking too and there are many other teams better at evaluating the HS/college talent available. It's not like draft time comes around and we get an infusion of talent and noone else does.

It would be nice for the rebuild if that trade with the Yanks worked out. Any chance Blake would be with the big club next year or more likely 2021?

Goins Called Up; Minaya Clears Waivers, Outrighted to AAA
wegner replied to ChiSox59's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm glad he cleared waivers. I have not given up on Minaya yet. Of course I still think Fulmer can still be a decent bullpen arm, so I guess I'm a glass 1/4 way full for those 2 guys. -
Made the mistake of reading a fluff piece about Reed and how happy he is to be here...so I'll root for him...homer away big fella!!
