There is no unwritten rule not to hit the ball where players arent. What the hell are you talking about?

Just watched a 4.5 hour game that was an all time great.

Convince Me: Marcus Stroman
why? Theres already 11k fans at the world series games. There is no justifiable reason not to let fans in the stands next year other than hysteria. Anything less than half capacity at the start of the year is stupid, and they really should just allow full capacity from the onset. Im starting to come around to this. It cease and lopez could be counted on at all then bauer would be the guy they should target. Not sure if i like stroman/Q though. I think if klubers club option is declined they need to go after him. If not, then i think id prefer stroman/gausman as the #3&4 next year.

Manfred continuing to ruin the game. The guy hates baseball. The only thing he should be doing is figuring out the next expansion teams/cities. I would be in favor of moving the fences back 15 feet and getting rid of the rule for standardized fence lengths. Lets get some more wild polo grounds type dimensions, or parks that have right and left fields and different lengths. Bring some more strategy back into lineup constructions based on the park.

I think theres a pretty big difference between a top 10 manager of all time and robin ventura

I think we share a lot of agreement on this. I think ultimately whether you agree with players kneeling during the anthem comes down on your perspective, not on whether one side is informed and the other misinformed. There is evidence to support both sides. what bothers me is when posters, plenty in this thread, take a statement like tonys and blow it up into claiming its a sign hes a racist. Its intellectually dishonest at best, and at worst really speaks to the character of the poster having an incredibly negative outlook of other people. i dont agree with those that are kneeling. I acknowledge that many have experienced anecdotal and personal experiences of racism. But i dont agree with the manner of protest, and further, i dont agree that their experiences trump impersonal data and statistics that there is a systemic issue of racism in this country. But that doesnt mean i think theyre bad people. Its a disagreement. People should be able to discuss these types of disagreements without one side demonizing the other.

Reading comprehension isnt your strong suit. From tonys perspective, he finds it unpatriotic to see people kneeling for the flag or during the anthem. This has nothing to do with the prospective of the kneeler. Tonys perspective on this is also the same perspective of the VFW and American Legion. Are these organizations racist?

Heres a bit of advice, when you look for evil everywhere, thats all youll find. flat out sad that you believe his stance on the issue is based on racism, and not patriotism. Further a rejection of the BLM message or propaganda that blacks are being hunted or disproportionately victimized does not mean someone is racist. Its very clear based on your history of posts on this and other topics that you automatically assume the worst about someone when they have different opinions than you. Thats what i find sad.

Sad that you believe someone having a negative opinion on kneeling during the anthem is based on racism. Just plain sad...and ignorant.

We should set up reeducation camps till everyone thinks the same

Figures. Only someone who just looks at boxscores could come up with a rationale for defending rickey

Serious question, do you actually watch the games?

Well he is the third winningest manager of all time...

There is validity to what hes saying here. A good manager will use analytics, but not solely rely on them. Might as well just hire a computer that can run an algorithm before every pitch if you want a manager that solely uses analytics for every decision.

How much of gausmans trend in the right direction is a result of playing at oracle park this year? His FIP and xFIP were miniscule at home, but closer to his career average of around 4 on the road. Dont get me wrong, i like him, but hes a #3/4 pitcher. stroman just scares me cause of his build. I know thats been the concern about him his whole career and hes been great, but it just worries me how he’ll hold up going forward. bauer is the safest bet to be an ace going forward. With the exception of 2019, hes steadily gotten better every year. Nola, woodruff, marquez, or castillo. Eloy wouldnt be enough to get any of them straight up though IMO.

Trevor Bauer Thread (Mazara Free Zone)
I expect nothing more of the white sox pitchers than to throw strikes and not break any laws. Anything else they do, including getting their rocks off by trolling on twitter, couldnt care less about. also, i dont buy this argument that bauer is somehow responsible for the actions of other people. Its similar to people blaming moises alous reaction for the treatment bartman got. If you cant handle a few death threats in the dms on twitter, than twitters not for you. This is obviously tongue in cheek. But honestly, like 99% of death threats arent legitimate threats. God ive lost count of the number of “death threats” ive gotten for cheesing fifa in online games.

Evaluating rick Hahn as of after 2020
I like rick and overall would give him a B+ in his tenure. His biggest success and impact has been getting multiple guys to sign team friendly extensions early. This paid huge dividends with sale and quintana and were the reasons that we got such a good package of prospects back. Hes done the same with tim, yo, eloy, and robert giving arguably the best core of position players to build around for the next 6 years. Trades at the major league level and free agency have been the biggest issues. Samardja, shields, and to an extent mazara turned out to be awful trades, and i think they made him gun shy this deadline to trade lower level prospects for help. Free agents have been a real mixed bag. Keuchel and yaz though have been good. Major bonus points for firing rickey too

Only issue i have with it is his age. If he was 10 years younger than hed be the best candidate

AJ Hinch: does it matter to you that he cheated?
If you aint cheating, you aint trying

Ozzie not a candidate
Just a smokescreen while negotiations are under way

Offseason Targets
Why not stretch him in the majors for two years eating middle innings as a reliever like teams used to do with young kids back in the day. You can easily get him up to 120 innings by having him as a long reliever in the bigs

The only rockies players we should be inquiring about are marquez and freeland
