  1. My sentiments exactly. I live near Grand Rapids, MI and they have an arena in the city. A WWE event was being held there the other day and I was like...that's still a thing??
  2. If Stony left, I would LOVE to have AJ in the booth. He would be more of a homer than Hawk though lol
  3. I don't understand. Anyone who listens to Stone knows he is extremely knowledgeable of the game, and is just a very wise person in general. What if Reinsdorf really has done so much for so many people that never gets publicized and now one false claim is put out there against him and it blows up, and now this is what everyone thinks of him? What if Stone is just defending the truth? I would commend anyone for doing that. Hell, the people that work for Jerry are the ones that know him the best, which happen to be the Sox employees. Who the hell else is going to speak against these comments? Hope Stony stays in the booth. I know he's getting older, but I have a lot of respect for him.
  4. I'm already starting the petition for Bill Walton. We're going to hit all of our balls over the moon and through the stratosphere.
  5. Say what you want about Nova, hes got some nasty movement on his stuff today
  6. He actually had decent stuff and pitched a scoreless inning.
  7. The pitching injuries just keep piling up
  8. Insane that Bellinger was taken that low in the draft
  9. There goes whatever value anyone thought he might have.
  10. Story of Fulmers career. Fantastic stuff, cant control it. Fulmer is a victim of the times when the Sox rushed the prospects through the system and didn't develop them properly.
  11. And hopefully next year with a little more reason to be optimistic ?
  12. These cubs announcers are boring. At least Stone and Benetti have dialogue that leads somewhere.
  13. Padres just fired their manager. Here is their official statement: "I want to thank Andy for his tireless work and dedication to the Padres over the last four seasons," Preller said in the statement. "This was an incredibly difficult decision, but one we felt was necessary at this time to take our organization to the next level and expedite the process of bringing a championship to San Diego. Our search for a new manager will begin immediately." I wonder if the Sox will eventually do the same.
  14. https://www.mlb.com/news/major-league-baseball-tests-robot-umpires-arizona-fall-league Interesting take: “It kind of changes the whole game,” said Royce Lewis, who is ranked the Twins' No. 1 prospect, according to MLB Pipeline. “It’s still tough, but anyone can catch it back there with electronic. I’d rather have the guys that are working hard and framing and building an element of their game to better themselves." Also this: “There have been some pitches where our catcher will make a comment to the umpire like, ‘I think that was a strike’ and even the umpire will agree,” Rockies prospect Ashton Goudeau, who fired three perfect innings on Thursday, said. “It’s definitely different to see what the umpire thinks is a strike and what actually is a strike.” Finally this: While there are certainly some bugs to iron out, overall the goal is to make the strike zone more consistent, and that’s ultimately something everyone seems to agree on. “It’s very fair,” Goudeau said. “It’s fair for both sides, it’s very consistent. … It’s definitely been consistent. That’s what everyone’s been talking about.” Ho man I hope this is implemented in the next decade. Baseball needs this so badly.
  15. I see what you're saying. I think if you were going to make an argument of who of those 3 do you keep, Leury is the one. He hits well enough for a super-utility man, has decent speed, and his defense isn't bad considering he plays everywhere on the field (and also...he plays literally everywhere except catch and pitcher). But Engel and Yolmer still have good value at limited roles with their strengths on speed and defense, even on good teams. I feel like more complete players are going to be looking for starting roles, not utility roles. I'm not saying Yolmer and Engel are the answers to the bench next season, but I don't think they are the worst options either considering where this team will probably be in 2020, but I also don't think that is a reason not to try to acquire "more complete" talent, if it's out there. I also think if Engel and Yolmer and Leury are on starting roles in any fashion next season, the front office deserves all the negativity they would get from the fans. I'm not sure someone who constantly ridicules Jose Abreu's offensive ability should be critiquing other players' offensive ability...you've lost all credibility in that arena. Yeah, I'm really curious to hear what other players people would like on our bench, and also arguments for what a "complete" bench looks like.
  16. I love Yolmer, I really do, and I think he would serve as a great backup infielder, as I hope Leury is our super utility guy next year, but you look at Yolmer's bat compared to his defense, this year he is a slightly better hitter than Engel. He is basically the Adam Engel of the infield. And I have the same feelings about Engel...I hope he is the backup outfielder/late inning defensive replacement/go to pinch runner next year. But Yolmer, in order to serve a role on this team, needs to humble himself and accept the bench role and the paycut that comes with it. Basically it comes to this...do you like the Chicago White Sox more, or playing every day more? If its the latter, Im not sure he will find a job outside of the teams that are rebuilding...
  17. Without having watched any of the game last night,, but only saw the box score, I feel like Cordero should've pitched that last inning instead of Ruiz...
  18. Just learned to play chess the other day actually. Never thought I would get into it
  19. What are you gonna do when the Hawks start sucking lol.
  20. Yeah, I would much rather play nom divisional foes more often. Idk how you balance that though
  21. McCann put that on the board
  22. Great way to start it, Leury with a leadoff single and Moncada with a double. 2nd and 3rd for Abreu no one out
