  1. Watching the Stros broadcast...I find it ironic Geoff Blum is one of the analysts.
  2. Also probably "I would rather have James Shields be pitching"
  3. Hmmm...seems like they put the hitters who have more success vs lefties at the top of the lineup. Will be interesting to see what Thompson does today. If anything, it's nice to see a fresh face in the lineup.
  4. Looking forward to see Giolito put together 6 solid innings of no more than 3 run ball, some nice at-bats from Anderson, Davidson, and Moncada, hard contact from Avi and Abreu, a couple stolen bases, and possibly the most important thing, an error-less game (both on the defensive side of things and on the basepaths).

If Dunning continues to pitch like he has I bet he is up to Birmingham before June
  6. I didn't say he should be 100 percent in line with what Hahn is saying. I said he should consider listening to him. Disregarding what Hahn is saying just because "it's his job and he isn't going to say anything else" is not really a wise way of going about it. Hahn could lie to us and tell us that the Sox are going to surprise people this year. Or even next year. (Kind of like they did from 2007-2016, except they probably genuinely thought they could win). And then what? He is telling the truth, and the results so far this April are backing up what he is saying. He is telling the fans what to expect. Hard times are coming. Buckle up. It's gonna be a bumpy ride. And guess what? We are probably gonna see a 2 week stretch where these guys are amazing and we come within 4 games of being in 1st place in this God-awful division. And then it will all come right back down to earth. Really, the ONLY player I am concerned about is Avi. But not really...look at all of the outfield talent we have in the minor leagues. If Avi doesn't work out, which I hope he does, we have a plethora of options to choose from. Let alone free-agency. Be patient. In due time, our time to reign will come. We just have to go through the bad and the ugly first to get to the good. Right now, we are getting through the ugly.
  7. Right. I don't think anyone is 100% complete finished product when they are called up for the first time. There is a big difference between AAA and MLB. In my personal opinion, you call up players when they have proven they are better than the league they are playing in. Doesn't mean they don't have things they need to get better at, but it's just their development needs to be progressed at a higher level. See, Jose Altuve. Yes, Fulmer was brought up way too early. Anderson probably could have been brought up a couple months later, but whatever. I think Moncada might have been better served to stay in AAA last year and possibly get called up this season. But it is what it is. He's here now, and he has shown flashes of at least being an all-star. Patience is key with all of these guys. And I think the front office has learned their lesson, and will not bring up these guys until they are truly ready to move on. And it seems so far, Rutherford, Basabe, and Adolfo are knocking on the door to make the jump. So, Cordell (when he gets healthy again) and, sh*t, even Adam Engel, Trayce Thompson, better start getting their sh*t together, because these guys are coming. And they are hungry.
  8. Yeah I agree. I'm as psyched to have Kopech and Jimenez up as the next guy, but Kopech needs to learn how to harness his offspeed pitches and how to locate his fastball. Yeah, hitters in AAA might be blown away, but the hitters at the MLB level know how to hit hard pitches. Everyone in the majors throws hard, and if you can't hit them, then you can't be successful at this level. And with regards to Jimenez, his development this year has been slowed by 3 weeks. He's now just beginning his season and he isn't perfect either. In an ideal development world, he finishes the season in AAA and sniffs the majors in September with a call-up. Have him start in AAA next year and when he has proven that he is better than that league, call him up in 2019. Jimenez is good, but he's no Mike Trout.
  9. Here is their record starting from 2012-2017. Keep in mind this is 6 years of rebuilding (arguably 5 if you don't count last year) Year 1: 55-107 (NL Central) Year 2: 51-111 (AL West) Year 3: 70-92 Year 4: 86-76 (won wild card) Year 5: 84-78 Year 6: 101-61 (Won WS) And the Sox are in year two of the rebuild. If you want to compare rebuilds...that was the Astro's worst year record-wise.
  10. Maybe I am looking too much into what Hahn is saying, but I do remember him saying when the time comes to spend money, they will have it. I mean, you could even argue they have started the process already with the Robert signing, although I guess that is different because he isn't proven yet to be a quality major league talent.
  11. The Braves, the Phillies, and arguably the Twins are also a year or two ahead of us in the rebuilding process.
  12. Then what are you expecting exactly? If there is no reason to listen to the leader of our team, why not just go follow a different one? I can understand being skeptical because of how this team performed when they were "supposed" to win, but with the kinds of trades Hahn pulled off a couple off-season ago, I would imagine that gives him some credence. At least the team acknowledged what they were doing before, filling in gaps with free agents, wasn't working.
  13. https://670thescore.radio.com/articles/rick-hahn-season-may-be-toughest-part-rebuild-white-sox Rick Hahn- "You've heard me say too much at the end of last season that I suspect this year's going to be perhaps the toughest part of the rebuild," This fiasco of a season was predicted by the Mastermind of the rebuild. It should not be a surprise to us. In reality, this is part of the plan. I believe what we are seeing now isn't even the top of the iceberg. In fact, when Kopech comes up and starts his growing pains, I expect people to say this rebuild is a bust. Remember he is far from a finished project. I don't even think Jimenez will be up to the Majors before September as some might suggest. He might even regress a bit in the minors. Patience people. In due time it will come. If you can ride this year out, the rewards will be more than worth it.
  14. For sure. Losses are frustrating, but are we really expecting this team to do anything? This year is all about development. Today I've enjoyed seeing the patience from Moncada and the hit/stolen base from Timmy. In my opinion, the next "building" aspect of this rebuild is going to be the bullpen, which hopefully will start being built next off-season. That thankfully should not require nearly as.much development time, as pens usually don't.
  15. With Engel at the plate? Not like he's driving anybody in anytime soon. Would rather have Tim steal 3rd and get home on a ground out or sac fly, which would have been had Verlander not turned during his motion.
  16. Eh, that wasn't horrible. At least not.on Anderson's part. Verlander just caught him stealing 3rd. Wasnt the 1st or 3rd out of the inning. Omar maybe was the one who didn't play that smart running to 2nd. Unless it was a double steal.
  17. There's the James Shields we all know and love. But he's the leader of the young pitchers they say.
  18. Well He has started more games than any other starter, and the Sox have had like 4 games postponed
  19. Love how I don't have to zoom in with my phone Everytime I log in. This is wonderful.
  20. Um, Shields nice looking 123 first inning striking Correa out looking
  21. If there is one player I feel bad for, it is Jose Abreu. He deserves so much better than what he has had the last 4 years.
  22. One thing about it, this has been a very well umpired game.
  23. This game isn't gonna go any faster with Shields on the mound. Dude takes his sweet time up there. Unless he gives up a run.
  24. Hell of an outing from Rondon. Hang a gold star in his locker.
