Bleh. Really don’t like the idea but if the return is good enough I guess….very much one step backwards, to hopefully take one step forward (use the $ towards a real OF) type move.Â
This is a salary dump most likely. We aren't getting any useful pieces for him unless he is a part of a deal with Vaughn or Eloy.Â

Do these teams have blank checks or something? Feels like other teams get a few hundred billion to spend and we get about 200 hundred million.Â

We don't acquire players like him. A waste of thread space.Â

He hasn't missed a start due to injury since debuting in the majors. I'm not sure what else you could want to see to invest big money in him long-term.
We would need to see another ownership group.Â

That is really insane for a pitcher. This is one area I agree with JR. Develop your own or get them in short term deals for big bucks - long term with massive bucks is just so risky.Â
We are used to being cheap. It's always better to sign elite players when you can. We sign guys past their primes looking to catch lightning and that rarely works.Â

Why is Aaron Judge speculating about the White Sox?Â

Gio is gone next year anyway. If you can get a nice piece for him then I'm okay with it.Â

Giolito put up 11.3 fWAR from 2019 to 2021 over 72 starts.  This ranked 7th in all of baseball.  And now some people are eager to dump him after a season in which he put 1.8 fWAR and a 3.65 xFIP.  You won’t find a better value for $10M next year than Lucas Giolito.  He won’t be an ace, but take #2 or #3 type starter production on the cheap for a year and then place a QO on him.  That’s probably the best path forward with him.
2020 may have skewed his stats playing against crap opponents with minimal pressure. On a team trying to win a World Series he is a 3, maybe a 4 at this point. But that is well worth his current salary, not 200 million that he probably wanted last year.Â

They need too badly. Also get a hotel or resort as well so our fans that commute can stay for a weekend home stand.Â

You don't give credit for getting rich by taking advantage of fans?Â

99% of Hahn criticism is valid, but Pollock was coming off a 3 WAR season & 2 consecutive years with a wRC+ of 130 or higher. It was impossible to foresee him falling off a cliff like this.
How many aging, slow and injured players does Hahn have to acquire before he realizes they rarely work out for us?Â

Hahn is need desperate need of firing from his GM role. He can move somewhere else within the organization. I have no faith that he can ball on a budget.Â

Jerry has been the worst performing owner in baseball and basketball for 40 years with plenty of payroll ... he will get it right now because?

And two starting pitchersÂ
I am confident in only one of our starting pitchers going into next season and that is Cease. I'm not sure what we are getting from Gio or Kopech. Not sure if Lynn is gonna bounce back or be another DK

That would be crazy if it was true, but it almost certainly isn't.
On paper it will be a lot closer than people realize. Especially if they get Abreu, Correa, and a good OF with that money.Â

After this free agency the Cubs are probably gonna pass us. Let that sink in.Â

Yasmani isn't a DH, so get an OF and 2B.Â

This team is flailing right now. It is likely the end for this rebuild and contention window. We were far behind too many teams when the season ended, And those teams keep getting better.Â
