  1. Reported in the media, we will not sign him.
  2. I always bring up the Otto Porter comparison, to be fair, he has a point about paying him $28M/yr, but not anyone baseball related that amount. Two different sports, but similar salaries IMO.
  3. We'll stay quiet through the winter meetings.... again if it's reported in the media, it's 99.99% for sure not going to happen. just not how the Sox operate.
  4. Sox would have had to offer $122.5MM/5 = $24.5M to be roughly the equivalent of the Phillies offer, so the 120MM+ reported offer makes sense. It was probably closer to 25M/yr (125/5) with the new tax structure coming into effect.
  5. I think it lost either way. Even at 4.95% In IL, PN State Income tax is 3.07%... with the progressive tax going into affect in IL for those 81 games he would have played in Chicago for earners above $750k (1m for joint) @ 7.99% (majority of his income will be taxed there), it’s not even close. Not to mention I’m hearing Cook County/City of Chicago may be imposing a local tax if you work downtown... . which also pisses me off enough, but I’m a WI resident, work downtown and pay WI taxes due to reciprocity agreements between WI & IL.
  6. We aren’t signing anyone above $25M annually. Let alone a $200M overall deal.
  7. I don’t think so, even though Polanco plays ok defense iirc.
  8. Hey, don’t be negative, 78 is more like it.
  9. Castellanos, Keuchel (big meh), Taijuan Walker... call it an offseason
  10. He’ll give up 25-30 HR annually at the Cell IMO... and we won’t sign Strasberg. Not a snowballs chance.
  11. I think Paulie left $5-$7M on the table from Baltimore to resign with us instead of Baltimore. Could be wrong
  12. Actually not all that upset by this... Wheeler didn’t want to be here due to family, can respect that. Now just go get a lefty instead. I have a queezy feeling that it’s Keuchel... meh
  13. It’s been reported we are interested in him, we will not sign him. Unless he really wants to come here, which is possible so he won’t get automatically fined for his constraint chaw (SF automatically fines you even if you have it in your possession, as you can tell Abreu didn’t get fined ha). Abreu & Bum would be best of friends, might have to bum one off them... that being said, 3/75M is the MAX (given the current market) I’d go on MadBum, even though he’s worth around 65... shorter deal, higher AAV, all.the.lefties pt2 still think he’s a bad idea ?
  14. We can give up the Cole and Stras dream. We aren’t going to pay $180-200M for any pitcher.
  15. Hope we sign MadBum to a 5/105 and then it causes Jerry to never spend money again. Lol
  16. Oh, it'll happen. Samardj seasons for at least 4/5 years
  17. Watch us land both MadBum and Ozuna instead of Castellanos.... hahahahaha
  18. Lol this is turning into last offseason, at least we got Grandal
  19. Whatever gets reported in the media heavily, the Sox 99% of the time don't execute.
  20. Going to say this again, just go 6/120 and have that 6th year as a team option with a buyout of $5-$7M. That way he gets at least 5/$105M-$107M
  21. I think we should take a flier on Taijuan Walker, if that healthy... always had a soft spot for him. He’s got a live arm and a pretty good cut fastball... I wonder who likes cut fastballs.
