Poor effort by Patrick Kane on a penalty shot that would have put the US up 1-0 in the bronze medal game. -
QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 20, 2014 -> 03:41 PM) Evan Turner to Pacers. Indy is serious. He's definitely an upgrade over the current version of Danny Granger but he isn't very good and can't shoot at all.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 20, 2014 -> 03:47 PM) it will be OK until the US wins it. They are fine with the USA winning events as long as a European country is competitive in it. -

I wonder if women's hockey will even be around for the next Olympics. When you only have two teams competitive for the gold medal and neither are European you have to imagine it will be on the chopping block. -

Can we bottle up this Egwu for next year? I've never seen him rebound like this for an extended stretch before. I don't even care about his offensive game which will always be limited if he plays D and boards like this. Plus with Hill and Nunn becoming sophs and Cosby, Starks and Paul becoming eligible we will actually have scorers next year. -

How the hell did it take the refs in the OSU v. NW game so long to sort that out? That wasn't a particularly difficult situation to figure out. Just an awful job by the officials. Thankfully Illinois sucks so I don't care as much that I'll miss a bunch of the game but just completely unacceptable by the refs there. -

So for those that know hockey way better than I do, while it obviously is incredibly likely that Canada ends up beating Latvia, if Latvia somehow pulls this off where would that rank as far as Olympic upsets go? -
So I'm on my phone and don't feel like going through trouble of linking but I loved the Guardians of Galaxy teaser trailer.

Guardians of the Galaxy trailer coming out today. I'm excited for that one.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 17, 2014 -> 09:42 PM) Watching Winning Time. For those that were alive back then, could Cheryl Miller have played in the NBA? I don't mean being a star, just sticking on a roster. LOFL. Hell f***ing no. She would be absolutely obliterated by any decent male college basketball player let alone an NBA player.

QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 15, 2014 -> 09:47 PM) Well, Aaron Jordan scored 39 last night Thankfully Groce is recruiting players that actually have basketball skill. Next year will tell me if he is the right guy for the job as Hill and Nunn should both make big jumps and the 3 transfers are all proven solid college players that actually have basketball skill. This team is just remarkably lacking in guys who can actually shoot, dribble and pass. -

f***ing play Malcolm Hill. He is the most skilled player on the team. I'd be perfectly content to not see Ekey or Bertrand again this year but sadly they have to play a little. -

Groce needs to ride Nunn and Hill for 30+ minutes a game. Those are the only two legitimate Big 10 talents on the roster. Although I will add Egwu to that if he just rebounds and plays D like he did tonight which has been the exception rather than the rule. -

QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 15, 2014 -> 09:17 PM) Tate turning the ball over regularly tonight. He is terrible and not ready for Big 10 play. He will eventually be fine as a backup once he bulks up but he has no business getting minutes right now. Unfortunately he is one of the only guys on the roster who can handle the ball and Abrams also just isn't very good. Such a bad offensive roster. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 15, 2014 -> 08:57 PM) The offensive foul calls were dreadful as well. Maybe in the second half they'll flip it. Craft's was pretty legit but he also walked his ass off on that play before the contact. The second one was really really weak. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 15, 2014 -> 08:49 PM) 3 fouls huh? Classic. Almost no defensive fouls were called on either team in the first half. Only 3 free throws total and both teams are doing a dreadful job attacking the basket. There is remarkably little offensive talent in this game. Illinois doesn't have a single upperclassmen who is really that talented on offense. Rice will hopefully be better with more talent around him next year but I'm seriously concerned about his propensity for forcing terrible shots and refusal to hit the open man. And this is the way Egwu needs to play all the time, just hit the glass and play D. He will always be bad on offense but if he gives effort like this on D next year's team will be pretty damn good with Hill and Nunn becoming sophs and then having Paul, Cosby and Starks eligible. -

It is literally impossible to have a pair of wings who are worse passers than Rice and Bertrand. Solid effort by Illinois so far tonight though. -
QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 15, 2014 -> 05:54 PM) It seems like the progression of rookies under thibs is they look like hell while they learn his d, and then when they feel comfortable there we see their value on O. Same progression happens with vets except it's usually 1-2 months. This is why we have such slow starts last few years. We've only had a handful of rookies under Thibs and I don't think any of them have really developed on O during their rookie years. Asik was never a good offensive player, Butler saw spot minutes and was decent in those minutes but never really was part of the rotation. Teague was horrendous and didn't play. Tony Snell's best offensive month was in November.

If Vonleh goes pro (which he should) does Crean last past next year for Indiana? There is a good chance they don't make the tourney if Vonleh goes pro because that frontcourt will be a train wreck. -

Amirite Herm Edwards? Yep. Pro sports where you can be a rapist, criminal, dog killer, or just generally a piece of s*** human being and that is all ok if you help us win but god forbid you be gay. -

That was an incredible game to watch. In other news, the USA speed skating team continues to perform terribly even after switching suits. -
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 14, 2014 -> 01:16 PM) Back to Melo talk, it's actually possible to retain Taj/Jimmy/Noah/Mirotic It requires a desperate, forced hand Knicks team. Boozer, Kirk, and Snell have to go out. Felton has to come in from the Knicks as well. Bulls In: Melo, Felton Bulls Out: Boozer, Kirk, Snell, Picks on Picks on Picks Throw in Okafor as a possibility to be swapped in if the Suns do find they want Booz. There is literally no reason for the Knicks to do that deal.
-
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Feb 14, 2014 -> 01:10 PM) The USA speed skaters are blaming their new suits for their poor performance. Please. Might be bulls*** but in a sport where tenths of seconds separate the top skaters little things can make a big difference and it would explain why literally every single USA speed skater is under performing.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 14, 2014 -> 11:42 AM) I don't think that's disputing anything I said there. You said he wasn't a top pick. He didn't go number one but he was still a top pick in the draft and if it wasn't for the weird eligibility rules he goes #2 after his senior year.
