  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 5, 2010 -> 10:38 PM) One of the great championship games ever played? Maybe one of the closest, but that game was pretty awful in terms of execution. This is pretty much how I feel about the vast majority of the tournament this year.
  2. Butler has made one shot in the last 8 minutes.
  3. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 5, 2010 -> 02:57 PM) The ESPN guys have been slurping the Indians all day. "They're so talented. They're so close." They suck. How could anyone possibly look at that rotation and hype the Indians. They are going to be awful this year.
  4. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 4, 2010 -> 11:28 PM) Suggestions, then? I've had Uno, Gino's, Malnati's, Giordano's, and Home Run Inn. It is safe to say you are hopeless.
  5. QUOTE (Felix @ Apr 3, 2010 -> 10:35 PM) I think I speak for almost everyone when I say "GO BUTLER" Sort of but because I am spiteful and jealous it would annoy the hell out of me if Butler has a championship and Illinois doesn't despite having several teams that would destroy this Butler team.
  6. Would either of these teams have had any chance to win a championship in any of the last 20 years? I'm struggling to find a national champion I think either Duke or Butler could beat.
  7. Many people have misunderstood Bob Huggins? Shut the f*** up Clark. He cares so much about his players that he didn't care enough that almost nobody who played for him at Cincy graduated.
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 3, 2010 -> 07:51 PM) I really really dont know who to root for here. Hate Duke, hate Huggins. I can't ever root for a Huggins team.
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 3, 2010 -> 07:42 PM) Ah, so you only like to watch games played perfectly by both teams involved, THATS whats enjoyable to you? Something ironic in that coming from an Illinois fan. LOL, I haven't enjoyed watching Illinois play the last few years but I watch them because they are my team. Watching games where there is little to no offensive ability showcased is not enjoyable to watch. If I wanted to watch crappy basketball I would watch the women's tournament.
  10. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 3, 2010 -> 07:41 PM) So short sighted. You are telling me there werent any good games past the first round? Your memory isnt serving you well. We have 2 #5 seeds in the final four, those upsets alone make it a great tourney. As for a terrible start? You just had a game come down to the last second with a free throw standing in the way of a win. The refs controlled the game for the most part, but the game was contested and close and you can bet that Butler and MSU fans came away thinking that was a great game. There was a 10 minute stretch in the 2nd half where Butler outscored MSU 4-3. That is terrible basketball. I don't care if it is closely contested, that is lousy basketball that isn't entertaining to watch at all.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 3, 2010 -> 07:35 PM) Close games and upsets are 100% the reason the NCAA tourney is so popular, nobody watches it because there may be pro-caliber players in the game. Some of the best NCAA games of all time featured players that never sniffed an NBA career. See I guess my problem with this is that a close game doesn't make a game enjoyable for me to watch. This game was absolutely terrible to watch even though it was close. The fact that the last minute might be entertaining doesn't erase the 39 minutes of garbage that I had to watch before that.
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 3, 2010 -> 07:32 PM) It has been one of the best ever judging by upsets and last second shots. Nobody cares that every player isnt pro caliber since its college sports, you are stupid if you expect every game to be a showcase of highly skilled players. MSU got homered pretty good in that game, but I think either team will be stomped by the Duke/WVU winner. I expect that once you get to the Sweet 16 and beyond that the games will be played at a pretty highly level and they are year in and year out. There have been very few really good games after the first round. The first day of the tournament was a ton of fun and since then there hasn't been much to get excited about. Most of the 2nd round games weren't close, the Sweet 16 games were terrible for the most part and 2 of the 4 elite games were fun to watch. Add in a terrible start to the final 4 and this hasn't been a great tourney.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 3, 2010 -> 07:27 PM) I love college basketball more than anything, but this is terrible. Summers is a decent player, but he looks like an NBA guy compared to the rest of the horrible talent on the court. I love college basketball as well, but this tournament other than the first day has been pretty brutal to watch. The only good games last weekend were Xavier/KSU, MSU/Tenn, and Duke Baylor. The rest of the games were brutal to watch and really after the first day of the tournament the first weekend was pretty boring as well (other than KU/Northern Iowa, MSU/Maryland, and a couple of others).
  14. BTW I love how defensive college basketball fans that aren't big NBA fans can be about the quality of college basketball. I started a thread on an Illinois board about how terrible the quality of play has been throughout this tournament and got attacked by people saying this has been one of the greatest tournaments ever. The first day was amazing and there has been 3 or 4 good games since then but nearly every game last weekend was horrible.
  15. This MSU/Butler game is horrendous and indicative of how awful college basketball is this year.
  16. Pretty mediocre episode tonight after an amazing episode last week. But after the last two weeks I'm really excited about where the show is headed in the last few episodes.
  17. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 30, 2010 -> 01:22 PM) Tim Floyd rejoins the college ranks. I'd have hired him in a heartbeat. UTEP gets probation within 5 years.
  18. I got 49/50 and would have had 50/50 but couldn't spell Tskitishvili
  19. Nice to finally see some high level basketball after the last couple of days. MSU/Tenn game has been really good.
  20. BTW is it just me or has this tournament really sucked outside of the first day? Obviously there have been some great games (MSU/Maryland, Xavier/KSU, etc.) but for the most part outside of the first day there has been blowouts and terrible basketball being played.
  21. There wasn't any #1 seeds in 05-06 which was also a tournament filled with terrible basketball and no great teams.
  22. This is an incredibly awful basketball game.
  23. I'm getting sick of watching terrible basketball during the NCAA tourney. When does the NBA playoffs start so I can watch players actually make shots.
  24. Curtis Shaw is a f***ing joke. He has no business refereeing any college basketball game let alone an elite 8 game.
