The refs controlled the game for the most part, but the game was contested and close and you can bet that Butler and MSU fans came away thinking that was a great game. There was a 10 minute stretch in the 2nd half where Butler outscored MSU 4-3. That is terrible basketball. I don't care if it is closely contested, that is lousy basketball that isn't entertaining to watch at all.

BTW I love how defensive college basketball fans that aren't big NBA fans can be about the quality of college basketball. I started a thread on an Illinois board about how terrible the quality of play has been throughout this tournament and got attacked by people saying this has been one of the greatest tournaments ever. The first day was amazing and there has been 3 or 4 good games since then but nearly every game last weekend was horrible.

This MSU/Butler game is horrendous and indicative of how awful college basketball is this year.

Pretty mediocre episode tonight after an amazing episode last week. But after the last two weeks I'm really excited about where the show is headed in the last few episodes.

Nice to finally see some high level basketball after the last couple of days. MSU/Tenn game has been really good.

BTW is it just me or has this tournament really sucked outside of the first day? Obviously there have been some great games (MSU/Maryland, Xavier/KSU, etc.) but for the most part outside of the first day there has been blowouts and terrible basketball being played.

There wasn't any #1 seeds in 05-06 which was also a tournament filled with terrible basketball and no great teams.

This is an incredibly awful basketball game.

I'm getting sick of watching terrible basketball during the NCAA tourney. When does the NBA playoffs start so I can watch players actually make shots.

Curtis Shaw is a f***ing joke. He has no business refereeing any college basketball game let alone an elite 8 game.
