Official 2009-2010 NCAA Basketball Thread

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Dec 9, 2009 -> 12:37 AM) How the hell did Indiana manage to beat Pitt tonight? It looks like they did it pretty handily. I had a 2-game parlay tonight. Took Illinois and Pitt straight up. Thanks, Pitt... Pitt is a freaking terrible basketball team. Truly awful. They were up 15-7 on New Hampshire at half time the other night, Duquesne took them into overtime and Wofford (who actually isn't that bad for a low major) only lost by 3 to them. They also got handled easily by Texas which is the only good team they have faced. They were essentially a 3 man team last year with Blair, Young, and Fields and those guys are all gone now and there is no one to replace them. -
QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 03:30 PM) I think this deal ends up being better for the DBacks than expected. If anything, this has to take the Yanks out of the Doc sweepstakes as one of the main parts that was asked for was AJax. I'm guessing Jackson could easily be replaced as he isn't really that great of a prospect and NY has substantially better prospects than him in their system.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 02:13 PM) The Tigers made out like bandits on this one. And i hate this for the Yankees. Why? Kennedy probably has little to no value right now because even when he is healthy he doesn't have great stuff and he has had a ton of arm trouble. Coke is a solid reliever but nothing special. Jackson is a good prospect but probably overrated considering his OBP is only about .350 in the minors and he hasn't shown any power. Even in a bad down year Granderson posted a higher OPS in the majors than Jackson posted in a good year in AAA.

More transfers and decommits coming for the Illinois coaching staff. I just can't fathom why Zook would be back for another year. If young fire him now there is enough talent on the team for a competent coach to win the next couple of years and maybe they can turn around 2010 recruiting as well. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 6, 2009 -> 08:23 PM) Agreed, GT/Boise and TCU/Iowa would have been the way to go. You get the non-BCS teams to go against each other. The Boise/GT over would have been like 80 points also. I actually wanted TCU to play Florida since I think that would be the best matchup possible. GT/Boise would have been a ton of fun. Cincy and Iowa would have been an interesting matchup actually. -

QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Dec 6, 2009 -> 08:08 PM) It's a cop out so neither of the non-BCS schools would beat a BCS school. They completely f'd themselves with their TV ratings. Nobody is going to watch GT/Iowa or TCU/BSU. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 6, 2009 -> 09:30 AM) He's really starting to look a lot like Sam Bowie. But even without the injuries, Oden seems to lack that 'it' factor. It's a shame. Because his physical tools are undeniable. His offensive game still needed developing but his efficiency numbers, true shooting percentage, block rate and rebounding rate were all terrific this year. The injuries are clearly going to keep him from ever being the great player he could have been though. -

QUOTE (3E8 @ Dec 5, 2009 -> 11:38 PM) Of course there's no guarantee you make it, but if you do, your chances to win the game increase dramatically Yeah but if their kicker doesn't choke and kick it out of bounds they win anyways. -

QUOTE (danman31 @ Dec 5, 2009 -> 11:36 PM) What makes you think they were going to complete it? They couldn't move the ball at all. It was an awful game, but amazingly entertaining. Props to Nebraska's defense. A Zac Lee interception wouldn't have surprised me at all if they would have thrown it. He is unbelievably bad. -

QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Dec 5, 2009 -> 11:30 PM) holy crap, what a finish Huge choke by Nebraska there. That kickoff was just a killer, terrible job by their kicker and then that horse collar penalty was pretty much the dagger. I really wish time would have ran out when McCoy threw that away. It would have been hilarious. -

I'm not sure if the game is over or not, but that was the dumbest f***ing play I have ever seen. What on earth was Texas thinking? Just run into the middle and call timeout. Looks like there will be one second left. -

How the f*** do you kick it out of bounds if you are Nebraska? Freaking terrible, now Texas is going to win. -

QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Dec 5, 2009 -> 11:18 PM) Hm, if Nebraska wins, maybe we'll see UF/Texas in the Sugar. That'd be a great game too. BCS chaos if that happens. Would Bama get TCU or Cincy? -

Greg Oden might have just suffered a really bad knee injury. The video of it looked terrible. He had started to play really well and looked like he might begin to live up to his potential. -

QUOTE (SnB @ Dec 5, 2009 -> 10:35 PM) this texas game is just horrible to watch. I'm actually enjoying it, I could watch Suh play football all day. Now watching Nebraska play offense on the other hand is painful to the eyes. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 5, 2009 -> 01:44 PM) Benn's going to go pro. He's already #3 on McShay's WR rankings, and with the rookie salary cap coming in 2011, I just can't see many players returning next year that are draft eligible. Wow I'm surprised he is that high after the last couple of seasons, he is that type of talent though. If he is a 1st round pick you definitely go. He won't be a great combine guy though so we will see what happens. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 5, 2009 -> 01:03 PM) I was hearing he is being projected as 1st round talent, but never got much of a chance to show it. Think he still goes first round? I don't think so. He is a first round talent IMO, but he hasn't put up good numbers and I don't think he will be a great combine guy. He also has been consistently banged up although he is tough enough where he plays through it. He has a tough decision to make, go pro and you are probably a 2nd or 3rd round pick. Come back, hopefully play with a better QB and stay healthy and he has a chance to be a 1st round pick. Of course there is a lot more risk in the 2nd scenario (injuries, lack of production, depth of next years WR class, etc.).
