  1. QUOTE (G&T @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 08:09 PM) Sounds contradictory. Not really he is saying that he doesn't believe that guys can perform better in bigger spots but that he does believe they can perform worse in big spots.
  2. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 08:04 PM) that's the thing, he gets hits and walks when it counts. Actually Punto has sucked with RISP over the course of his career and his splits for late innings are equally horrible to his splits in the earlier innings. As are his splits in close games as opposed to blow outs.
  3. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 07:32 PM) kubel, cabrera and span sucking it. And I wouldn't start calling a-rod clutch just yet. I'm not, but the whole idea that A-Rod isn't clutch is now and has always been stupid.
  4. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 07:18 PM) Yeah, that's not too bad though, there isn't room for everybody they are in on right now (even with all the schollies available) because they are in on so many good 2011 guys. Beal is the important guy IMO, although that won't be easy either obviously. Even a class of something like Abrams, Randle, Thompson/Langford (kid from Alabama who favors Illinois), Siakam/Shaw, and Egwu would be a great class. Best case scenario (although unlikely) would look like this: PG - Abrams SG - Beal SF - Thompson PF - Shaw/Miller C - Egwu
  5. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 07:08 PM) With so many juniors on the team (meaning lots of open scholarships for the 2011 class) combined with just how many good players (mainly in Illinois) that the Illini have a shot at, that could be a top 5 class nationally for them if Bruce and the staff are on their game. Get Beal and Blackshear somehow (although I think just getting one of them would do), and it could be even better than top 5. Blackshear's not coming to Illinois unless something drastic changes.
  6. Nnanna Egwu to Illinois. 4* C in the 2011 class and also happens to rock the old school goggles. I love it.
  7. QUOTE (Tex @ Oct 8, 2009 -> 10:43 AM) No way I would have allowed my 12-year old to go unescorted to the locker room. I wonder why the team did it that way. Perhaps they felt it was better to negotiate with a 12-year old instead of an adult? The ball was his 200th and a MLB record for 200 in the fewest at bats. How many bats has he already signed? Seems like they took advantage of a 12-year old. I have a problem with the parents letting her go into the locker room alone and then suing the organization when they didn't like the outcome. I don't think the organization is in the right here either though. I didn't read the article closely enough and yes it was an autographed ball. I can't imagine a 200 HR ball even if it is a record is worth very much. Especially if it isn't authenticated as Howard's 200th HR.
  8. Great job parenting. And I would guess a 200th HR ball is worth next to nothing. Can't imagine that an autographed bat from Ryan Howard would be worth any less than that ball.
  9. Is there anything more ridiculous than a hitter getting on base by getting HBP on a pitch that is basically over the plate?
  10. Also, why the f*** does Chip Caray still have a job and how the hell is he considered a good enough announcer to do playoff games?
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 7, 2009 -> 06:07 PM) Typical Twins bulls***. A bloop single by Cuddyer and a wild pitch plates 2 for the Twins. That wasn't a wild pitch, that was a fastball right down the middle that Posada messed up on. Then he doesn't hustle to get the ball and lets Mauer score. Just an absolutely pathetic play by Posada especially after complaining about Molina starting in game 2.
  12. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 08:12 PM) I may be an Illini hater and all but how can you put them over any school that has multiple championships. Duke has 3 titles and still is below Illinois? Doesn't make sense to me. Because it is based on win loss record and the strength of teams you have played. Probably a similar formula to the RPI. Just shows how much Illinois has underachieved in the tournament more than anything.
  13. If your up and have nothing better you can watch the different presentations live here: http://www.universalsports.com/mediaPlayer...db_oem_id=23000 I forgot to mention that Chicago's presentation is going on right now.
  14. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 29, 2009 -> 10:59 AM) I don't mind the show nor the slow developing plot, but Ted does annoy the piss out of me. I like the show and at times have loved the show but its starting to run its course. There are only so many new relationships and first dates you can show Ted going on before it gets really old. And it has gotten old. I still generally like Marshall. Lily, and Barney (although Barney's character is being neutered by his relationship with Robin). But Ted's character is horrible right now and when the main character sucks the show won't be great.
  15. Weak start to the season for How I Met Your Mother. Ted really needs to meet the mother, his storyline is getting old.
  16. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 26, 2009 -> 06:26 PM) As much as I think Zook makes a lot of dumb coaching decisions, it's on the players to get their heads out of their asses. And Juice is a great athlete but a terrible qb. He hasn't gotten any better since his freshman year. He plays in one good game and gets people to believe in his "skill." the team should have been embarassed by the mizzoui loss. Guess they weren't embarassed enough. He improved a lot from his freshman to his sophomore year and then has regressed since then. And the fact that Illinois has consistently had stupid penalties, bad turnovers, and just flat out missed assignments the last two years is a direct indictment of the coaching staff.
  17. Zook and Juice need to go. Zook did a good job building the talent back up for Illinois but he has to be one of the worst five coaches in college football come game day. Time for him to go and bring in a real coach.
  18. I really hate when refs decide a game. By the way congrats Michigan, Signed, The Refs
  19. Indiana just got jobbed. Shocking that Michigan gets ridiculous calls in their favor.
  20. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 26, 2009 -> 11:02 AM) Aw man, Michigan game has the lady play by play voice. Ugh Michigan's defense blows. Amazing how improved they are on offense from last year though.
  21. QUOTE (T R U @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 08:56 PM) Boise State beat an Oklahoma team that didn't have a QB.. there is no chance that Boise State would beat a Sam Bradford Oklahoma team.. Alabama was very young and overachieved last season, even though they were still a good team. Utah had some pretty solid talent of their own as well.. There is a difference between the last of the BCS schools who get put against the non BCS teams and the teams like Florida and Texas. Boise State or Utah wouldn't beat those teams and I really hope Boise gets a chance to play one of them so they can get spanked and dash some of these peoples hopes who clamor for playoffs or lower teams to have a fair shot at a National Title.. I want a playoff but it has nothing to do with the Boise States of the world.
