Tampa Rays @ Chicago White Sox 4:05 pm CT

QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 06:22 PM) All cock exposing aside, I'm thankful this series has been on TBS instead of Comcast. I would strangle someone if I had to hear Hawk blame everything on the umpires. Agreed, although MLB really needs to rate their umpires during the regular season so that only the best work postseason games. CB Bucknor has no business being anywhere near a postseason game. That guy is a f***ing joke. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 06:13 PM) Jermaine Dye's defense in RF is so bad. His inability to charge the ball with any quickness completely negates his average throwing arm. Quentin and JD should swap positions in the offseason. -

How fitting that a Soriano strikeout on a pitch in the dirt ends this series. -

QUOTE (MO2005 @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 11:07 AM) Did or did not all of those world series champions string hits together or were they homerun first approach? Boston hits homeruns, but do you notice their approach? It is different than the Whitesox. All good and winning teams will be tops in homeruns, but it's when they are hit and how crucial of a situation it is? It's called being a smart team! Stringing together hits is not small ball, that is just good hitting. -

QUOTE (MO2005 @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 10:33 AM) I mean look at what the last 6 world series champions have in common? 2001 Diamondbacks small ball, 2002 Angels small ball, 2003 Marlins small ball, 2004 Red Sox small ball, 2005 WhiteSox small ball, 2006 Cardinals same 2007 RedSox same Does Kenny and Jerry understand this? It works, why change it? I almost start thinking sometimes it's about money..What draws more fans?? Homeruns so kids can try to catch a ball Yeah, LOL to saying that the Red Sox played small ball. Both those teams hit a ton of HR and didn't steal bases. The 2006 Cardinals team had basically no speed at all and just got lucky their pitching staff was hot in the postseason. The 2005 White Sox bunted, but they hit a ton of HR and really after April "small ball" was no what drove that offense. Plus, in the postseason just about every big hit was a HR. I will give you that the Marlins and Angels played small ball at times, mostly the Marlins though. The 2001 Diamondbacks had limited speed and hit a ton of HRs. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 06:09 PM) Don't forget it starts tonight at 8PM CST on Directv. It is actually airing on Wednesdays this year.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 10:31 AM) I would agree with this if talent was the only variable. The Cubs' organization is so far in its own head about the 100 years and all that crap that I think they're in full freakout mode right now. GOATS AND BLACK CATS AND ROGUE FANS AND HAUNTED BASEBALLS.....AAAAGGGHHHH!!!! I really think that if the Dodgers can get an early lead in Game 3 the Cubs will fold. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 11:50 PM) Wow. What a reminder the playoffs are a whole different entity. It just seems so amazing how quiet Wrigley was the past 2 games. Eerie quiet. I could hear the pitch hit the mitt on TV. Think of how nuts that is compared to the regular season when those crazies were going wild a majority of the games. Do you guys think the Cubs FOR CERTAIN are dead? Or will they bring it back to Wrigley. The Dodgers actually aren't that good. Is it OVA? Man I hope we win tomorrow and get it to the Cell 1-1. It isn't over but the Dodgers are actually an extremely good team with Manny and the Cubs have not hit Kuroda all year. Plus I think if the Dodgers can take an early lead in game 3 the Cubs will fold. -

We got so lucky not to get Fukudome. Can you imagine two Nick Swisher's in the lineup. Eww -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 10:59 PM) This isn't even close to the same Dodger offense the Cubs saw. I tried to tell my dumbass Cub slurping friends. They know now. Manny completely changes the complexion of a lineup. The Dodgers have a lot of solid hitters and those guys just all seem to produce more when you stick a hitter of Manny's caliber in a lineup. They get more chances with guys on base and see better pitches. Plus a return from Furcal and you suddenly have a very strong lineup. And it doesn't hurt that Lowe has been absolutely on fire on the mound. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 10:00 PM) I could see him getting 3 years, 70 million from the Yankees. Yanks sign Manny, Tex, and CC after not making the playoffs this year? I wouldn't put it past them. -

It will be interesting to see the type of contract Manny gets this off season. The guy can absolutely rake but he is 36 and his defense (not that it matters with the way he swings the bat) is really bad and will only get worse. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 09:54 PM) Isn't it f***ing awesome to root for him? That's it...trade Quentin for Lincecum, and sign Manny. F it...just move Quentin to CF and Manny to LF and just mash the ball. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 09:48 PM) That has to be interference on Lee at 2nd base. Billingsley gets another DP ball so it doesn't matter. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 09:10 PM) Blah, that 3rd strike wasn't close. Big inning for Billingsley here. I would be furious if I was Manny, that looked to be a good 6 inches of the plate.
