QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 30, 2008 -> 08:58 PM) Since when am I an Illini fan? When the other team shoots 20+ more fts, youd hope that the ref wouldnt call a touch foul to determine the game. Havent they given Purdue enough breaks... The bigger problem with that play is Johnson traveled before the weak contact.

QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 08:45 PM) Looks like Mizzou is not as good as you thought. Muck Fizzou. 9 in a row now and it is going to take a huge upset for Missouri to win any time soon.

Yankees sign Teixeira
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 04:00 PM) The Tigers rotation can't come close to sniffing what the Yanks have. Not only that but Rivera is just slightly better than what the Tigers had closing games for them.

Yankees sign Teixeira
QUOTE (lord chas @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 03:37 PM) hes not worth that much No, but the Yankees can clearly afford it and they keep him from the Red Sox. Plus they were paying Giambi this much the last couple of years so why not do the same for Teixeira. This is simply another case of a contract that would be bad for other teams just not being a big deal for the Yankees.

Yankees sign Teixeira
QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 03:30 PM) wow. has the yankee payroll hit 300 mill/season yet? The crazy thing is they really haven't raised their payroll from last season. Abreu, Giambi, Mussina, Pavano, along with currently Pettitte are all off the books. Giambi was making 23 million, Abreu 16, Pettitte 16, Pavano and Mussina about 11.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 03:25 PM) Is there a link anywhere? Is this running on the ESPN crawl? Being reported on the bottom line on ESPN. I didn't see a link on espn.com yet.

Unbelievable. They might as well just sign Manny as well now.

QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 21, 2008 -> 01:56 PM) Manual is 2A, Lawndale is 3A. Crap, that post was worded horribly. Meant to imply that I think De La Salle and Manual will be in the title game if they are both in 2A.

QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 21, 2008 -> 10:59 AM) De La Salle is 2A correct? With North Lawndale 3A now, De La Salle should win state easily. Is Peoria Manual still 2A? They are a very good team and actually beat North Lawndale last weekend in a rematch of last years 2A state title game. If both those teams are 2A I would bet heavily that they would be in the finals.

QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 08:15 PM) I wouldn't get too high on Bertrand. I haven't heard good things about him so far this season. From who? He has played well but he is never going to be a big time scorer. He would be a double digit assist man if his teammates finished. He handles the ball extremely well, has great court vision, and has good size and athleticism. I would like to see him attack the basket more than he does and he needs to assert himself more but there is no question about his talent. He is a 6'6 PG who will be coming in with a bunch of big time athletes and scorers. He won't need to be a star.

QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 07:00 PM) Even with your "super class", KU for instance is still ranked higher with just 2 commitments at the moment. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/recruiting/c...mp;viewmore=yes We still have a strong chance at Withey, Wall and Stephenson. ESPN's rankings also are terrible and laughably don't have Brandon Paul in their top 100. And our super class is 2010 where we have 2 top 25 players and another guy who is top 30 on scout and top 70 on Rivals.

QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 05:14 PM) That's a huge get... Well the good thing for Depaul is that even if Illinois gets who they want there will still be some good players left in Illinois. That class is loaded in Illinois.

Tracy Abrams (class of 2011) to Illinois. That kid is big time and he is good friends with Shaw, Blackshear and Thompson. Recruiting is so fun to follow right now, Illinois is going to be absolutely loaded.

QUOTE (TheBlackSox8 @ Dec 16, 2008 -> 02:46 AM) Gears of War, Prince of Persia, Metal Gear Solid, God of War, HALO, and even The Sims...have been talked about. Both GoW's, PoP, and MGS are actually happening in time...PoP filming at the moment PoP could be a pretty awesome movie if it is done well.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 15, 2008 -> 12:45 PM) It's a shot at Auburn too. I'm not knocking Chizik, he was a good hire for Iowa State. The key is Iowa State. Auburn is only a few years removed from being a split national champion and forced out a guy that did a pretty darn good job only to hire someone that has never proven anything at the head coaching level. Auburn didn't get a share of the national championship when they went undefeated.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 06:59 PM) Really? I think that as a Big Ten team the Illini should pretty much own every other team in Illinois on the football field with the exception (sometimes) of Northwestern. Illinois was as bad as any program in the country Turner's last couple of years and Zook's first couple of years.

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Dec 9, 2008 -> 02:58 PM) Did I see the stat right that the football Cardinals had not won a playoff game since 1947 or was it they did not have a home game since 1947? That is epic if you ask me. They won a playoff game in 1998.
