  1. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 6, 2005 -> 09:45 PM) GOOD IDEA TYSON Wow thanks for ruining my entire f***ing weekend you choking assholes GOD f***IGN DAMNIT f*** Fasjkl;adsf What a great day. The Bulls choke, it looks more likely that Dee may go pro, it looks like Scheyer is a lock to Duke, and I've spent all day studying for a final.
  2. QUOTE(shagar69 @ May 6, 2005 -> 06:33 PM) where did you hear this? Illiniboard. Dee sounding like he was going to leave is somewhat of a surprise, although in order for scouts to take him seriously he has to act as if he is serious about going pro. I've expected Scheyer to Duke from the moment they offered him, it was reported on Telander's show today but it isn't official.
  3. Dee sounded like a guy on his way out at his press conference. Talked about the second round being a blessing. If he is a first round pick I wish him luck, if he isn't I think he is making a huge mistake. Oh, and it looks like Scheyer to Duke is almost a sure thing. But no surprise there, he was a Dookie from the moment they started to recruit him. And to go on a rant I'm sick of the HS basketball players form this state. They expect the state schools, not just Illinois but DePaul, Southern, etc. to be loyal to them yet they show no loyalty to the state schools. I've seen coaches complain that we didn't recruit guys like DeAndre Thomas hard enough as if we're are supposed to take lesser players to satisfy their wishes. Pisses me off. End short rant
  4. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ May 6, 2005 -> 04:00 PM) more work he helped bring the team back in games they were down So did Jack Ingram and nobody is calling him a first round draft choice. Dee is great at playing the passing lanes but isn't what I would call a great on the ball defender. He is a good albeit streaky shooter. He doesn't create well for himself or others and he hasn't shown he can run the PG at a high level for extended periods of time. Dee is a very good player but he was the third best guard on the team this year and his game is still pretty limited at this point in time. If he shows he can take defenders off of the dribble and run the point effectively he would be a first round draft choice. If he doesn't he'll be a second rounder at best.
  5. QUOTE(UofIChiSox @ May 6, 2005 -> 12:31 PM) Somebody before mentioned that he has a son, and on top of that, he also has already graduated, so if he did go to the draft, he'd be leaving Illinois with a degree already. That being said, I think he can increase his stock a lot more if he can lead a less talented Illinois team to success, but at the same time, if Illinois struggles, he may lose some luster that he's gained with the Final Four run. Basically, I think he's doing just what Powell did last year, getting his name out there and trying to find out as much about where he stands as possible. I'm not sure how much luster Dee gained in the Final Four run because the run was sparked by Luther Head and Deron Williams and while Dee played alright he really didn't do enough to elevate himself in the eyes of scouts. And I don't think Dee will actually graduate this semester. IIRC he has finished his class work but he needs to complete an internship before earning his degree.
  6. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ May 5, 2005 -> 10:17 PM) i think he would, but not hiring an agent was smart I highly doubt Dee would get drafted in the first round. I haven't even seen him talked about as an early second round pick. If he gets drafted it would probably be late in the second round unless some team falls in love with him.
  7. QUOTE(AssHatSoxFan @ May 5, 2005 -> 08:49 PM) so it looks like he is testing the waters a la jarret jack http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2054184 Not surprising at all. Any junior who has NBA aspirartions should declare and test the waters.
  8. QUOTE(danman31 @ May 5, 2005 -> 04:36 PM) Who cares? And is the best runner since Neal Anderson supposed to be a good thing? I'm serious, I barely remember the guy. Neal Anderson was a very good running back for the Bears in the late 80s and early 90s and was a multiple time pro bowler.
  9. QUOTE(rangercal @ May 4, 2005 -> 12:04 PM) Mark Buerhle A Buehrle doesn't deserve an A.
  10. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 3, 2005 -> 11:03 PM) When guards shoot better than you and you are 6-9 that means you are either a poor shooter or have a poor shot selection. He may be a good scorer but not a good or smart shooter. No one can even use the excuse he has had no body else on his team that can attract opposing teams attention, because it is simply not true. .539 from the free throw line? Give me a break. Not a very good threee point shooter he just shoots alot of the. Good recounder? Sure. Pretty good passer for his size too, but underated? No. Watching him play defense is also always amusing. I'm not saying he is a great player, but I don't understand how a player that is ripped on by everyone and is considered to be overrated by everyone can actually be overrated. In order to be overrated it makes sense that you would have to be thought of highly in the first place.
  11. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 3, 2005 -> 10:47 PM) Hate walker, he is extremely overated. If anything Antoine Walker is underrated because everyone just rips on the guy constantly whether he deserves it or not. Celtics 18-9 with Walker and 27-28 without him.
  12. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ May 3, 2005 -> 08:59 PM) Hell trade back for Carlos Lee if you need to. Do something though. Well Carlos Lee and his .225 average would fit in with the rest of the heart of the order.
  13. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 3, 2005 -> 01:11 PM) how did that tourney end up for illinois?? :headshake
  14. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ May 3, 2005 -> 01:30 PM) Anyway, I hope the Illini gets Marques Johnson, Thaddeus Young, and Mike Conley(or Sherron Collins) next year. I think Scheyer is going to be more like Sean Harrington was for the Illini a couple of years back. Johnson has more potential and is as good as Scheyer without the sexy appeal because he's not from the state. As I've already stated, we have 0 chance at Mike Conley, forget about him. And you are greatly underrating Scheyer, if you think he is going to be Sean Harrington.
  15. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ May 2, 2005 -> 11:21 PM) It's kind of depressing seeing Duke come in and get guys like Dockery, Thompson, and Livingston, or Kansas with Wright, or UNC with Frasor. Duke can take all the Thompsons and Dockerys they want.
  16. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2004 @ May 2, 2005 -> 09:51 PM) Mavs hold on 103-100. What a great series this has been. T-mac on the verge of a second mind boggling playoff collapse. Yeah, but my question is how do the refs miss Michael Finley knocking the ball from Barry while standing out of bounds with under 1 minute to go in the game. Completely inexcusable.
  17. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ May 2, 2005 -> 11:23 AM) Rush is probly going NBA, i'm not gonna really hold out hope for him at this point. If it happens it would just be a huge bonus. Rush wants to go to the NBA but isn't hearing what he wants from scouts and GMs so it is looking more likely that he will go to college.
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ May 2, 2005 -> 12:18 AM) Dee's stock will never be higher. Not true. Right now he is a SG who has never shown he can run a team by himself. He has to show he is a PG to pro scouts. As opposed to this year where he would almost assuredly be behind Deron Williams, Jarret Jack, Raymond Felton, Chris Paul, Monta Ellis, and John Gilchrist. Not to mention that there are guys like Daniel Ewing, Luther Head, and Nate Robinson who are smaller guards that could all be picked ahead of Dee. I'm not saying Dee won't go pro but I don't see how his stock can't get higher than it is now.
  19. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 1, 2005 -> 11:17 PM) f*** i meant conley for being the one i heard about have a good amount of interest. Young was suppose to be second. Conley=0 chance forget about him right now, he's basically down to OSU and Wake. The PGs we are going to go after are Sherron Collins (most people think he is as good or better than Conley), and then a few others namely some Willie Kemp, Will Walker, Trevon Hughes, and Josue Soto. Another possibility is Marques Johnson, who plays AAU ball with Semrau who is a combo guard 6-5 who can play some point.
  20. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 1, 2005 -> 11:14 PM) He'll be back. I think so too, but you can never be sure about who will and who won't go pro.
  21. QUOTE(shagar69 @ May 1, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) nice job, this semrau looks like a solid player. and if we got Rush we would have a chance to be very good next year. As long as Dee is back we have a chance to be very good without Rush.
  22. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 1, 2005 -> 11:07 PM) Depends who you go by. 99... what you think the chances are of us getting young? I have heard he has serious interest in us. What about thaddeus young? I know they are down the future but i am always for looking towards the future. You list Young twice. Thaddeus Young has kept his recruitment pretty quiet so far. He has his list down to 5 or 6 but hasn't stated who is on it in public yet. My gut feeling would be it is very unlikely he ends up an Illini.
  23. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 1, 2005 -> 09:53 PM) Brandon Rush is also considering Illinois. As are Anthony Sparks, Mike Davis, and Curtis Brown. Jamar Smith has already committed to Illinois. Curtis Brown, Anthony Sparks, and Mike Davis will not be Illini. Are '05 class is Chester Frazier, Jamar Smith, and Charles Jackson with a very very good chance at Brandon Rush if what I'm hearing is correct.
  24. Looks like Illinois got there first commitment from the class of '06. Semrau is the 50th ranked player from scout.com and a top 30 player on Rivals for those who care about rankings. Semrau's Profile
