the Angels
QUOTE(longshot7 @ May 11, 2005 -> 05:31 PM) They lost 2 of 3 to Detroit at home and now they're gonna lose 2 of 3 to Cleveland at home. They're getting demolished by the Jndians right now. What is up with them? They're in first place but happened to not play real well for a stretch. It happens

QUOTE(backman @ May 10, 2005 -> 05:50 PM) Indiana has owned the heat recently. I don't care and I repeat, Indiana would have zero chance against the Heat in a 7 game series unless Shaq or Wade was injured.

Game Thread 5-9-2005 Sox .vs. Rays
QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 9, 2005 -> 09:04 PM) How many times is that fat slob going to change his opinion? He ripped on the Sox at first but now he likes them? Because no one here ever changes their opinions on players or teams. No one here thought the Bulls were terrible when they were 0-9 and then changed their tune when the Bulls started to win. Give it a rest, the Sox hadn't proven anything the last few years to make people outside this fan base believe that they were going to actually contend this year. While I liked the moves Williams made, this team was quite unproven to begin the year and nobody really knew what to expect. Opinions can change, there isn't anything wrong with that.

QUOTE(backman @ May 9, 2005 -> 09:29 PM) I think that the pistons and Indiana will beat the heat, but it depends on if Indiana can beat the pistons. I rather see it pistons heat. The west series are just blowouts, San Antonio vs. phoenix. Heat vs. Phoenix (offense vs. offense) or spurs vs. Detroit (defense vs. defense) Indiana wouldn't have a chance against Miami and it doesn't matter because the Pistons will win that series easily.

Skiles get screwed
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 9, 2005 -> 08:04 PM) Exactly.....Nash, Johnson, Richardson, Marion, Stoudemire > Duhon, Hinrich, Deng, Harrington/Davis, Curry The Suns record>Bulls record so whats your point. And Amare is not a top 5 player in the league.

Game Thread 5-9-2005 Sox .vs. Rays
QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 9, 2005 -> 06:01 PM) So far this season he is. He's currently on pace for 15 SB's. His career high is 5 and he also would end up being caught 10 times at this pace which would be right on pace with his career numbers. Anyone is a threat to steal a base once in a while but you don't have to worry about Huff running a whole lot.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 9, 2005 -> 05:10 PM) Not to mention Huff who has just as many stolen bases this season as Sanchez. Huff is not a threat to steal bases.

Dee Brown declares for draft
QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ May 8, 2005 -> 04:56 PM) I think that Dee's as good as gone now. This is gonna be a brutal year. I disagree that Dee is as good as gone but we will see.

QUOTE(The Bones @ May 7, 2005 -> 10:58 PM) Another blowout in Game 7 of the Dallas-Houston series. Steve Nash will get to play his former team in the Conference Semifinals. McGrady had a down game tonight, but he and Yao have combined for 58 pts on 23-48 shooting. The rest of the Rockets, 16 pts on 5-29 shooting. Thats quite a job by the supporting cast.

Bulls @ wizards.
QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ May 6, 2005 -> 09:49 PM) You thought weber could recruit scheyer? Nobody was going to recruit Scheyer. Duke was his dream school. But we were still in until today so I was holding out a little hope. I'm a lot more upset about Dee. I think Semrau who we got over the weekend has more college potential then Scheyer anyway and SG isn't a need but Weber had to recruit Scheyer anyways. I would rather see us make a hard push to bring in Willie Kemp who is a 6-3 PG along with Sherron Collins and hopefully have a similar backcourt to Dee and Deron.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 6, 2005 -> 09:45 PM) GOOD IDEA TYSON Wow thanks for ruining my entire f***ing weekend you choking assholes GOD f***IGN DAMNIT f*** Fasjkl;adsf What a great day. The Bulls choke, it looks more likely that Dee may go pro, it looks like Scheyer is a lock to Duke, and I've spent all day studying for a final.

Dee Brown declares for draft
QUOTE(shagar69 @ May 6, 2005 -> 06:33 PM) where did you hear this? Illiniboard. Dee sounding like he was going to leave is somewhat of a surprise, although in order for scouts to take him seriously he has to act as if he is serious about going pro. I've expected Scheyer to Duke from the moment they offered him, it was reported on Telander's show today but it isn't official.

Dee Brown declares for draft
Dee sounded like a guy on his way out at his press conference. Talked about the second round being a blessing. If he is a first round pick I wish him luck, if he isn't I think he is making a huge mistake. Oh, and it looks like Scheyer to Duke is almost a sure thing. But no surprise there, he was a Dookie from the moment they started to recruit him. And to go on a rant I'm sick of the HS basketball players form this state. They expect the state schools, not just Illinois but DePaul, Southern, etc. to be loyal to them yet they show no loyalty to the state schools. I've seen coaches complain that we didn't recruit guys like DeAndre Thomas hard enough as if we're are supposed to take lesser players to satisfy their wishes. Pisses me off. End short rant

Dee Brown declares for draft
QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ May 6, 2005 -> 04:00 PM) more work he helped bring the team back in games they were down So did Jack Ingram and nobody is calling him a first round draft choice. Dee is great at playing the passing lanes but isn't what I would call a great on the ball defender. He is a good albeit streaky shooter. He doesn't create well for himself or others and he hasn't shown he can run the PG at a high level for extended periods of time. Dee is a very good player but he was the third best guard on the team this year and his game is still pretty limited at this point in time. If he shows he can take defenders off of the dribble and run the point effectively he would be a first round draft choice. If he doesn't he'll be a second rounder at best.

Dee Brown declares for draft
QUOTE(UofIChiSox @ May 6, 2005 -> 12:31 PM) Somebody before mentioned that he has a son, and on top of that, he also has already graduated, so if he did go to the draft, he'd be leaving Illinois with a degree already. That being said, I think he can increase his stock a lot more if he can lead a less talented Illinois team to success, but at the same time, if Illinois struggles, he may lose some luster that he's gained with the Final Four run. Basically, I think he's doing just what Powell did last year, getting his name out there and trying to find out as much about where he stands as possible. I'm not sure how much luster Dee gained in the Final Four run because the run was sparked by Luther Head and Deron Williams and while Dee played alright he really didn't do enough to elevate himself in the eyes of scouts. And I don't think Dee will actually graduate this semester. IIRC he has finished his class work but he needs to complete an internship before earning his degree.

Dee Brown declares for draft
QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ May 5, 2005 -> 10:17 PM) i think he would, but not hiring an agent was smart I highly doubt Dee would get drafted in the first round. I haven't even seen him talked about as an early second round pick. If he gets drafted it would probably be late in the second round unless some team falls in love with him.

Who will have a better record?
QUOTE(danman31 @ May 5, 2005 -> 04:36 PM) Who cares? And is the best runner since Neal Anderson supposed to be a good thing? I'm serious, I barely remember the guy. Neal Anderson was a very good running back for the Bears in the late 80s and early 90s and was a multiple time pro bowler.

QUOTE(qwerty @ May 3, 2005 -> 11:03 PM) When guards shoot better than you and you are 6-9 that means you are either a poor shooter or have a poor shot selection. He may be a good scorer but not a good or smart shooter. No one can even use the excuse he has had no body else on his team that can attract opposing teams attention, because it is simply not true. .539 from the free throw line? Give me a break. Not a very good threee point shooter he just shoots alot of the. Good recounder? Sure. Pretty good passer for his size too, but underated? No. Watching him play defense is also always amusing. I'm not saying he is a great player, but I don't understand how a player that is ripped on by everyone and is considered to be overrated by everyone can actually be overrated. In order to be overrated it makes sense that you would have to be thought of highly in the first place.
