  1. The 'Stros got 1 (Berkman) but show me anybody else who is putting up the kinds of numbers that should be there for the NL from the 'Stros -- ones that could oust anybody in there. The only person for the Sox that you could make an argument for not being there is Buehrle but everybody else is deserving. If anybody complains about snubs in the AL -- for f***'s sake Mark Freaking Redman got in.
  2. QUOTE(JackTalkThai @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 06:40 PM) No offense to Guillen but Leyland is too respectful of a manager for that. He wouldn't punish deserving players from opposing teams just so he could take undeserving players from his own team. I'm calling bulls*** on that and we all know any manager would take his players as a reward for what they've done. Anybody else getting irked at the way ESPN was disrespecting Jenks essentially saying we needed Rivera to close the game out because Jenks didn't know how to win important games in a high pressure situation? **coughworldseriescough**
  3. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 06:34 PM) I hope Guillen purposely puts Mariano Rivera in the 6th inning just to hear people complain. Baseball Tonight crew (namely Phillips) made a point of having him close the 9th. "No respect to Bobby Jenks," though. That's because Jenks doesn't know how to pitch in high pressure situations when an important game is on the line.
  4. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 04:21 PM) It's definitely Ozzie's fault for bringing Politte out for that second inning. Oz has some culpability but the blame isn't 100% on him because he wasn't the guy on the field making the (s***ty) pitches. But are we 4.5 out yet like people said we were going to be at the end of the weekend?
  5. QUOTE(atrain081 @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 04:16 PM) well, thanks Ozzie..... Yep Ozzie's fault that Buehrle pitched like s*** from the start. Ozzie's fault that Politte sucked more dick than a guy high on meth in a bathroom stall on a rave. Yep, I totally agree it was Oz's fault. Oh wait... I concur that Politte needs to be DFA'ed after this game and we need to get our hands on another bullpen arm. Because the armchair managers here -- if Oz did pull Buehrle early on in the game, you would have complained that he burned out the bullpen. Yes, there is room for some constructive criticism of the team, but goddamnit if I don't believe that a lot of people here just b**** about the team for the sake of b****ing. //rant off
  6. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 08:40 PM) OMG DETROIT CAN'T SWEEP THE PIRATES THEY NEED TO MAKE A TRADE YESTERDAY! Damnit, you beat me to it.
  7. Pirates hold 'em when the Tigers had RISP. Nice work Bucs!
  8. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 04:37 PM) They were talking about this on ESPNEWS. Shouldn't they wait a little while longer to talk about it? There's still 1/3 of the game to go. Looks like we'll have to wait a few minutes for Batista to get back on the mound. D-Backs batting around on the A's.
  9. Batista's got a perfect game through 6 against the A's.
  10. QUOTE(The Critic @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 02:17 PM) And then when McCarthy struggles, it'll be time for someone else, maybe a trade. And then if the guy the Sox trade for struggles, it'll be "what a horrible trade that was" and we'll all splooge all over the guy they traded away. It gets old. You'd never guess this team was 52-27. Ding ding ding! We have a winner! Look at the way people dogpiled on Anderson so far and he hasn't even been up for a full season yet. Hell, these are the same people that were on the "Trade Crede" train for the longest time too but conveniently missed eating their crow on that one.
  11. Some Santo -- a little whine with our win: Cubbies need "to stop the bleeding". "I've never seen anything like this before." "What is that usher doing? It's not going to matter! Just play it's not going to matter!"
  12. Snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. Now serving: Heaping amounts of crow for all the people that said we'd lose today.
  13. Amazing what a 2 out, 3 run HR will do for a message board.
  14. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 02:37 PM) Well, now we have seen the best of the Cubs bullpen. You don't have a healthy fear of Aardsma, Ohman or Novoa?!
  15. QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 02:13 PM) He can't even get the pitcher out in less than 7 pitches. No way should he face Pierre here. They're trying to get him through the inning so he they can pinch hit for him in the top of the 7th since his spot is due up first. No sense in bringing in a bullpen arm for 1 out and then having to pinch hit for them.
  16. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 02:13 PM) Man that was a stupid move by the Cubs all around. You wrote stupid and Cubs in the same sentence. Isn't that a bit redundant?
  17. Vaz with another inning of giving up no runs. Seems to be settling down a bit out there.
  18. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 01:28 PM) I like facing Maddux right now. He can't keep giving up two hits an inning and getting the DP to bail him out.......................or can he? Somebody needs to dislodge the horseshoe from his ass and hit the ball hard instead of a lazy grounder in the infield with runners on.
  19. Leadoff man on again. /broken record Rally Crede and AJP with back to back hits. C'mon Taz. No GIDP, please.
  20. Pitches over the triple. Nice job Vaz.
  21. Hahahahahahaha! The shift backfires. WTG Thome!
