QUOTE(The Critic @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 02:35 PM) Yeah, the "full creative control" thing prevents Hogan from ever being entertaining. No love for the man that kept Ed Leslie employed with 7987428734423427 different gimmicks? And from Tommy Dreamer in his new ecw.com column: "I take it upon myself to apologize for what happened this week. I cannot truly begin to express my feelings...I am angry, pissed off and totally frustrated about what I have been seeing in ECW. I need to sit back and digest all of this; if I write about what is in my head, my column will probably no longer exist. Sorry." And another hardcore icon, Doug Basham is going to be joining ECWWE. -
QUOTE(juddling @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 06:01 AM) I had a cousin who was a catcher in the Cardinal organization back when another young catching prospect named Randy Poffo was there. i got to meet the guy once. seemed pretty regular though from my cousin i heard he was a huge gym rat and was always hitting the weight room. imagine my suprise when he turned up in the WWE as one of my favorite all-time wrestlers.....The Macho Man!!!!!!! Also......Ric Flair is the man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is pretty f***ing cool. Did you ever get to meet Randy's relative Lanny? (The Genius, Leapin' Lanny Poffo)

QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 11:05 PM) Geeze, forget to put something in green ONE TIME and you go all crazy on me! OK, I will remember this time. You know, if they recount those ballots down there enough times, I bet Al Gore wins! I was just saying that the PRI has been notoriously corrupt in the past elections. How was I supposed to know the election savvy on the worldwide circuit of the community here, haha.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 06:44 AM) Maybe we can just sum it up with this warning before the show: "WARNING: The following program is REALLY gonna f***ing suck. Any similarities between this WWECW product and the ECW programming you fondly remember is purely and totally accidental, and is probably the result of some Paul Heyman booking slipping through the McMahon Family Entertainment Prevention Filter. Blame for the vampires, psychics, and zombies can be directly placed on the Sci-Fi Channel, while blame for the weak-ass stripper and the hosses can be placed squarely on the "enhanced" shoulders of Vincent Kennedy McMahon. Thank you, and enjoy the following gag-fest." And we've got a new logo too -
Throw on another 52 votes from me.

Just cranked out another 100...and counting.

I didn't read through the thread but the TNA online community (the wrestling promotion AJ and Co. did that angle with) sent out a bulletin online to help 'Punch AJ' Voted for AJ about another 35 times since I woke up.

QUOTE(AssHatSoxFan @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 06:31 AM) i must have missed out on this but what is the "flight from hell crap" people keep making mention of? In 2002, coming back from England -- a bunch of wrestlers got drunk and harassed flight crew etc. Hennig and Lesnar got in a big argument and a fight broke out on board the plane. In the aftermath, some of the lowercard members got released (Hennig, Golddust etc.) while Lesnar got to keep his monster push.

QUOTE(whitesox91403 @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 02:18 AM) He was actually Scott Hall in The now defucnt AWA, he was tag team champion over there with a young Curt Hennig. After that he went to WCW for the first time, going by a gimmick named The Diamond Studd. He was managed by DDP. After that didn't work out is when Vince made him into Razor Ramon. You are correct sir! Oz and Vinnie Vegas -- WrestleCrap at its finest. Wasn't Nash in the same stable with DDP, Diamond Studd (Hall) and a couple others as well when he was in WCW? (pre-nWo)

QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 01:37 AM) Speaking of the warning, has anyone else noticed that every ECW show has had the same format...Sabu opens up the show, commercial break, Sandman canes someone stupid, commercial break, Big Show squash, commercial break, Kelly Striptease/Mike Knox v. jobber, commercial break, main event. All that I ask is to change it up a lil...is that too much to ask? They did lead off that pantload of a Philly show with the piss break/food break "Kelly's Expose". As WrestleCrap Radio and Blade Braxton said in his weekly poetry session: "Kelly's Expose. The only thing that's been is exposed is that Mr. John Laurinaitis sucks as a talent scout." But you're right it's always the same damn format of matches (Show squash, Sandman caning one of the Baldies who we're not supposed to remember, Mike Knox/Kelly, main event) -
QUOTE(rowandrules83 @ Jul 5, 2006 -> 11:44 PM) Anybody remember this "wrestling" match? http://youtube.com/watch?v=UnkrYmBWth4&sea...tterbean%20gunn I remember that. Butterbean knocked him the f*** out so damn fast.

QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 5, 2006 -> 10:46 PM) They are just of north of me in Racine this weekend and it's sold out. Glad I didn't get tix since no RVD. I don't think anyone thought this was gonna belike the old ECW. The could make some adjustments and make it close, but ECW has great shock value that WCW and WWF didn't have. I used to love reading on the internet the day after an ECW Arena show and having my jaw drop when Pillman showed up and Rude under a mask. Great stuff. Exactly. Is it so much to ask that Kelly be piledriven through a table off the ring apron? Seems she's being pretty loud backstage. Kelly has been very vocal about not wanting to return to Ohio Valley Wrestling. She's appeared on the last few OVW television shows. Apparently, the OVW fans annoy her when they ask her what it's like to be on the main roster now. Also, Kelly isn't particularly fond of the amount of attention she gets down in the area. Awww, poor Mr. McMahon Generic Wank Fodder v. 23 doesn't like OVW. Well, then I say don't send her to OVW. Send her to a strip club to learn even the most basic and elementary striptease moves because she f***ing sucks. It didn't have to be the old ECW with the same stars but they should have let Heyman/Dreamer control the book. At least that way it'd be moderately entertaining than the Test/hoss steamrollings. The old ECW booking was so awesome and addictive. And Critic -- we gotta add something to the warning...We forgot Kevin "Vampire moth attracted to the stadium lights" Fertig in there that shows up every damn week. And also the Sandman caning some lame ass gimmick wasting yet more time of the show. -

From PWInsider: It's been said that Rob Van Dam and Sabu are taking their punishments very well. They are not complaining at all since they know it's their fault. Neither man will be fired over the incident. After this month, all parties will be moving forward as if it never happened. Rob Van Dam will be gone for 30 days, however, he's in line for a huge push when he returns next month. Also, Sabu's push will continue and it doesn't appear that he will be suspended. Vince McMahon likes Sabu so much that it appears as though that he doesn't have anything to worry about in terms of getting fired or being de-pushed. McMahon loves his old-school wildman character, as well as his in-ring work. And also per WWE.com, Kurt Angle got suspended for 30 days. I'm assuming that this is just kayfabe to give him some time off to recover from his multitude of injuries he's got. Any news on the slim chance it isn't kayfabe for the suspension? -
QUOTE(farmteam @ Jul 5, 2006 -> 06:01 PM) Ugh. Terrible, terrible. A random Martin Lawrence movie is funnier than half of those movies. I agree, it too me a minute or two to Rebound from this list. However, I think they were just trying to be Bad Boys. They couldn't put so many films from the Black Knight on there without drawing too much suspicion. It is a Thin Line Between Love and Hate for so many of these film choices on this list. It is too bad that they didn't Do The Right Thing, but I guess that's just Life. After all, What's the Worst that Could Happen? At least it isn't a threat to National Security.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Jul 5, 2006 -> 04:15 PM) "It's basically Vince McMahon pushing hosses and his generic plastic wank fodder awkwardly dancing/stripping on the show for the enjoyment of nobody." This is the disclaimer they should run before each episode of WWECW on Sci-Fi. You mean to tell me that you're not marking for the expert dancing skills of Kelly? They pretty much killed ECW (if it wasn't already dead) yesterday by jobbing Little Guido, Al Snow and RVD...in Philadelphia...with an already hostile crowd. The only bright spot of the show was the CM Punk promo that aired. But I have confidence that Punk will be jobbing left, right and sideways if Vince, Steph and the other politicos have their stance since he has too much of an "indy style" rather than the WWE 5 Moves of Doom. -
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 5, 2006 -> 10:40 AM) Pff...take a guess. Brian and whitesox91403, you two are cool in my book. My all-time hated wrestler is Goldberg, BTW. I can't stand the way they made him unbeatable. I also dislike Lesnar, and you know why if you know about that flight from England. I also hate Goldberg for the monster push that he got when he didn't even know that many moves. Not to mention him stiff-kicking Bret Hart at a PPV, giving him a concussion and knocking Bret out of the wrestling profession forever. And Lesnar is another overrated hoss pushed by Vince to insane proportions. That was totall bulls*** that Hall and Hennig got released and Lesnar kept getting his push. Although the funniest part about that flight from Hell story is the detail where Ric Flair supposedly wore nothing but his robe and was flashing people while spinning "it" around.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jul 5, 2006 -> 02:47 PM) Wait a second........ ECW is on the Sci-Fi channel? When the hell did this occur, and which dates do they air? Once ECW left local broadcasting, and then later TNN/Spike TV, I lost interest. Even at that point wrestling only collected a small portion of my viewing time. I'd be interested in seeing what has changed over the last several years. It's not the real ECW. It's WWECW. There's a massive difference from the genius of Paul Heyman's booking (yeah, I drink the Kool-Aid) and the crap being put on currently. And they were supposed to have the show last night at the old ECW Arena but Vince and Kevin Dunn didn't think that the small scale venues would be appropriate for "his vision" of ECW. Its basically Vince McMahon pushing hosses and his generic plastic wank fodder awkwardly dancing/stripping on the show for the enjoyment of nobody. It's a fairly poor show to watch, especially when they give 5-8 minutes of an hour telecast to Kelly (Barbie Blank) to dance on a stage very poorly and attempt to strip yet every time she's stopped by her gimmick boyfriend. Even funnier still is that the ECW matches (unless otherwise noted by the announcers) are going to be normal matches -- which means using a chair, table etc. is a big no-no. Talk about a crock. You may very well have something with the theory regarding the destruction of ECW there, Critic. -
QUOTE(The Critic @ Jul 5, 2006 -> 03:45 AM) Okay, here I go being an old fart again..... My favorite all-time wrestler would have to be Nick Bockwinkel. I used to really like his promos, because his thing was that he didn't get all excited and foam at the mouth about how badly he was going to beat someone. He would speak in a very calm, measured tone, to show that he was above the level of his opponents and the fans. Whenever he DID get all upset about being wronged by an opponent or referee, you paid attention because it was out of character. In the ring, he was that kind of clever cheat that frustrated the fans, because he'd go 5 or 10 minutes without getting caught by the ref. The fans would be going nuts about it, and Bockwinkel would just be smirking at the fans to make them crazier. He was truly excellent, and he had the VERY large plus of having Bobby Heenan as his manager. I also loved his term for the fans - "cretinous humanoids". Ah, the Brain! Man, we could almost have another thread for "Favorite manager" from pro wrestling.

"New Generation" 1984 Memphis Wrestling promo. I guarantee you can't watch this without crying tears of laughter. Let this be a lesson to the kiddies -- sell moves appropriately and don't use stiff shots or Antonio Inoki will have something to say about it... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHJ4xmwb9hs
