QUOTE(The Critic @ Jul 11, 2006 -> 11:22 AM) I can't describe his promo HALF as well as it came off. He's so good. He's still sort of feuding with Ric Flair, and he mostly talked about how Flair had a ghost writer for his book and Foley wrote his books by hand, and then he called Flair a "used-up hack" and mentioned how when Foley's ear got torn off, Flair was basically in charge of the booking. When they brought Foley's ear backstage, Flair went out to see what happened and Foley was still out there wrestling. Foley was insulted by Flair saying that Foley "took the easy way out" by doing hardcore matches, so Foley described all the sacrifices he's made over the years to show that he never took any easy way out. He finished up by saying that when he saw Flair bleeding all over the ring during their last match, and saw Flair's family crying, the space in Foley's mind that Flair used to occupy suddenly was cleared out. He's not giving Flair a rematch because "you don't matter to me anymore". It really was so much better than a synopsis can convey - Foley gets angry at just the right moments in his promos, and he makes you believe what he's saying. Foley cuts promos that make me quiver with anticipation. He's so damn good at it. If only we could diffuse his charisma to the hosses Vince is shoving down our throats. Outside of the Foley promo, Raw was pretty bad. 4-5 backstage segments of Edge and Lita in a hotel? And who didn't know that Cena would show up and lay him out. It was a lot funnier when Stone Cold did it to McMahon at the hospital. Viscera and Haas in the match nobody cares about Part 2798374824734834? Vince and Shane beating up washed up never-weres and poor bastards that are actually talented but stuck with terrible gimmicks. DX outsmarts the McMahons and the Spirit Squad again? Oh those rambunctious rebellious forty year old family men! Nothing says 'degenerate' like having to run away from scenes that may offend their religious values. But what really irked me was the total and complete destruction of any heat/push/power/momentum that Shelton Benjamin was getting by having him job to SuperCena cleanly. Not to mention Nitro and Melina -- damn Melina gives King Kong a run for his monkey. Do you have any hope that a Dreamer/Foley run-in is going to be in the cards tonight on WWECW for the main event? I'm trying to hope for competent booking and solid material -- but I know that WWE won't go that way by a long shot. /Mabel is the true King of Kings! //supports Viscera going back to Mabel, joining Nitro and Melina for the reformation of MNM -

QUOTE(whitesox91403 @ Jul 11, 2006 -> 01:21 AM) When you are right, you are right. I have never seen CM Punk wrestle. I have only read about him and have been waiting to see him now for a while. Is it true he was held back because of his relationship with Maria? Don't forget about the pointless Sandman caning a lose segment either. Supposedly Punk was held back because some of the higher ups (it has been said it was Steph, HHH and HBK) didn't like his style of wrestling and the whole backstage political situation -- he wasn't a hoss, wrestled 'too indy' and had a lot of tats. He wasn't considered 'sports entertainment' material. CM Punk's tryout match against Val Venis (not his best work) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZ16lett0N8&search=cm%20punk ROH has a Best of CM Punk DVD with a lot of matches from there. You should be able to find some of his indy work online at youtube, google video etc. And yes, can't forget the Sandman caning a Baldie in an alternate gimmick segment. -

QUOTE(whitesox91403 @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 11:57 PM) I wouldn't mind a Ric Flair/Big Show match so much as if you know, it was on Raw. I just don't know why Vince would bring back ECW and think that it is going to be popular if he's putting it in his image rather than what hardcore ECW fans want. Of course, now, with it being back, it has sparked interest, so people are watching, but it's not going to take long before it goes the way of The XFL unless something changes. The Kelly Kelly thing is just dumb. Yeah, she is smoking hot, but in old ECW that girl would have been driven through a table by now or hit in the head with a kendo stick or whatever. And why not bring in guys like Mike Awesome, Mikey Whipwreck, The Blue Meanie, Steve Corino or anyone else that could make that show worth watching. Those guys I'm sure need the money and the job. As far the roster split, it was fine when the shows were somewhat balanced. But, you take Kurt Angle and Randy Orton away from Smackdown and replace with then with no one? How that show even draws ratings anymore is beyond me. And their PPV's? Who the hell wants to watch The Great American Bash? Get real. If only I owned WWE. Awesome is on a self-imposed retirement after blowing out his leg at ONS against Tanaka and not getting what he thought was a fair payoff for tearing down the house in that (and this is coming from a guy who thought that Awesome jumping to WCW made him a terrible wrestler to have around, talent aside) excellent match. Whipreck was offered a part-time contract but I don't think he signed. The Meanie hasn't been contacted and Corino has said that ECW died in 2001 and that he wasn't interested (He's working for Zero-1 Max in Japan, Hustle in Japan and some other indy promotions) They had a lot of the core talent for ECW in 2001 but they treated them like total s*** and what came of it is a pretty big blowback since much of the upper-tier talent went elsewhere/refused to come back. Orton is such a hack. He's got no mic skills, limited in ring talent (Well, I guess if using restholds were a qualifying factor for a ***** match then he'd be tops) and hasn't really hit his potential as a heel. Nobody wants to watch SmackDown or SmackDown's PPV's. I mean, the only reason Mysterio has the strap is because Eddy died and Batista went down with an injury. Vince is so delusional with his hard-on for hosses. Watch WWECW is like watching a train wreck now -- you know it is going to be terrible but you can't look away. And why doesn't Dreamer get a shot at the belt since they were building that feud between he and Show? Why aren't all the matches under 'extreme rules'? The whole full time ECW roster is: RVD (suspended), Angle (suspended/health), Sabu, Little Guido, Tony Mamaluke, Big Guido, Roadkill, Doring, Al Snow, Balls Mahoney, Test, Justin Credible, Jazz, Mike Knox, Sandman, Stevie, Sandman and Dreamer. (and the bastion of sXe awesomeness that is...CM PUNK!) They can keep adding Crazy, Psicosis et al. to the roster but it doesn't mean that they'll see camera time. The show is only one hour and Vince/Steph seem content on 10 minutes of Kelly's Expose (the only thing being exposed is that the segment f***ing sucks), a Knox squash match, Sabu match, Test squash, main event. It's a sad state of affairs. -

QUOTE(T R U @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 11:16 PM) I like you find the roster split ridiculous as well I have never been a fan of it, Smackdown is terrible.. they need to merge them back together and like you said put the ones who belong in ECW in ECW Yes but this would mean that somebody working in WWE would have a sense of logic, reason or rationality. And we all know they don't got that. SmackDown's roster is so depleted, it's a joke. They can't move Crazy, Psicosis etc. because then they wouldn't have a mid-card there. Besides, who would Khali squash if they left? Plus, Vince has made it clear that he doesn't care about the "old ECW" and is re-making it in his image -- the original wrestlers whose blood, sweat and tears made ECW so popular be damned. It's his "C Show" to run into the ground with Kelly Kelly exposes, Mike Knox becoming the next Test, Test getting a monster push despite being mediocre and a main event of RIC FLAIR VS BIG SHOW. Flair vs Show is a match for the aged. It's the deluded billionaire's vision of what made a product work that he had no part in putting together. If I was Heyman, I'd be feeling like a major whore for accepting the checks for this pantload. It's gotta hurt to see his baby be prostituted in such a disgusting fashion. I can only hope for a Foley swerve and cameo'ing in ECW tomorrow to make that match watchable by helping Show/ECWWE. -

Woke up, lunch, exercise, ran a couple errands, read, watched Kaante (a Hindi film that's basically "The Usual Suspects" and "Reservoir Dogs" rolled into one), watched WWE Raw and then got ready to crash cuz I've got back to back days of workshops to go to starting tomorrow. -

QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 09:05 PM) ROH is really worth seeing. It's not quite ECW in the heyday, but it is a real quality night of wrestling. The last 2 times in Chicago Ridge they brought in Japanese wrestlers (1st time was wrestlers from Dragon's Gate and they had a 5 Star match, and then Ketna (sp?) from NOAH was here last month) and those were fantastic matches. Samoa Joe is great to see, his workrate is a little down in ROH now since he's important to TNA, but he still puts on a hell of a show. The wrestlers put on excellent matches and the atmosphere is great. Brian Danielson's enterance to "Final Countdown" is classic and watching Jimmy Rave and Alex Shelley react to the toilet paper is worth the price of admission alone! Kobashi Kenta kicks ass from Pro Wrestling NOAH. Joe vs Kobashi from 2005 http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3...q=kenta+kobashi ROH has got some quality wrestlers -- just kinda sucks that their straps never have a change of hands on a regular basis and every one of them has held for months and months on end. They've got a lot of talent on the roster and it is quite entertaining to see technical wrestling instead of 'sports entertainment'. Their feud with CZW is being booked pretty damn well though. /Nigel McGuinness mark -- "In it to win it -- Done it and won it!" -

QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 01:18 PM) C'mon, Rex, you can't be that blind to the situation. Kick a dog enough times and eventually he will bite, and bite hard. If your neighbor starts lobbing hand grenades into your backyard, how long are you going to stand for it, even if the only thing hurt were your flower garden?Israel pulled out of the strip and gave them complete autonomy there, and what do they do? Use it as a base to further attack Israel. Not to get into the whole who's right/who's wrong debate, but with all the cease fires that the Palis have violated, I wish Irsrael would just turn the whole f***ing place into a parking lot and be done with it. The Palis and their perpetual cries of victimhood make whiny liberals look like conservatives. How about just shutting up, and do something to help your situation other than attacking Israel? Make something, sell something, DO something. The wall being built has stopped lots of farmers from getting to their crops (having to get 'permits' which essentially mean "Do the IDF guys working that day really want to let you through today?", not to mention the times where the security just forces them to go through bureaucratic work for laughs) so it is quite difficult to "shut up and do something to help [their] situation". Not to mention apartment buildings get shot with missiles, buildings/bridges/public works projects get toppled (collateral damage) -- it is difficult to do anything. There's something to be said for raising one's self up by their bootstraps but it is difficult to do when they have no bootstraps to speak of. And some good informational reading: http://www.btselem.org/English/index.asp It's an Israeli run human rights organization detailing what's actually going on.

Francine in a bikini contest Knox d. Balls Sandman d. Credible (dueling canes) Punk d. Roadkill Test d. Dreamer Show d. Sabu (extreme rules title match) Tommy was good on the mic and Punk got a fairly good reaction with a couple ROH chants and a few AFI claps (even though he didn't come out to it) Really...what did Mike Knox ever do to deserve this push? Looks like Kenny of the Spirit Squad may be in some hot water...(but this plaintiff is f***ing hilarious) A Chesapeake man told Hampton Roads NewsChannel 3 that WWE wrestler Ken "Kenny" Doane is responsible for injuring his arm. Following a WWE RAW house show last Sunday, James Wilson, 27, says he noticed Doane and wrestler Mickie James waiting at a stoplight. According to Wilson, who approached them, only James gave him an autograph. Doane, on the other hand, allegedly held onto Wilson's poster as the light turned green. He then began to drive off, ripping the sign and hurting Wilson's shoulder, the man, who doctors diagnosed with a left shoulder strain, says. "That's when it ripped in the end and fell on the ground," said Wilson. "And it's not my fault he did what he did. I'm innocent and I'm going to take a warrant out. And nobody's going to stop me over my dead body!" Wilson said that Doane was the only wrestler to ever deny his autograph request. WWE's Gary Davis offered Wilson autographed photos, but when Wilson instead requested money, WWE asked that he file a written report. The company is standing behind its wrestler, saying that Doane's only contact with the man occurred when Mickie James was signing his poster. Wilson, who will pursue a misdemeanor charge at the Norfolk magistrate's office, said that Kenny was doing more than merely playing his "heel" character. "I just do. I feel the way I do because he was real. And not just he ripped my poster, which is a misdemeanor, but then he hurt my arm and shoulder," said Wilson. -

QUOTE(BFirebird @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 01:49 PM) I think everyone needs to slow their roll on the staff for a minute. Sure our offense is carrying us right now and the staff vastly overachieved last year and are underachieving this year but they will come around. They will not be able to duplicate last year's numbers but I never expected them to be that great again this year and neither did Kenny and therefore upgraded the offense. Remember...baseball is a LONG season and has many peaks and valleys....no need to jump on and off the bus so quickly. Uh...we're halfway done and our starters have ERAs of: Buehrle: 4.02 Garcia: 4.72 (entering today) Garland: 5.30 Vazquez: 5.15 Contreras: 3.31 The staff did overachieve last year but having two starters with an ERA on the wrong side of 5 (possibly 3 after today is done) is f***ing ridiculous for a playoff contending team. -
