Well things have changed, especially in the last few days. This really has more to do with Atlanta than anyone else (though I suppose depending on the deal the Pirates as well) but Todd Frazier only avoided arbitration on Friday. You combine that with those whispers around Atlanta that the Mariners deal netted them a piece needed for a Quintana trade...maybe the Sox and Braves are aligned for a Q + Fraz for Albies +++ swap and the Sox are just doing due diligence to see if Houston, NY or Pittsburgh has any last minute bids to outdo Atlanta. Braves make a lot of sense the more you think about things.

I agree something really could happen as soon as tomorrow. Very strange for the White Sox to go radio silent on a major move for an entire week like this before Levine, a guy they have been known to use, blurts out that talks are progressing on a Sunday. Then you have some pretty interesting posts on Soxtalk regarding the Braves and moves they made last week...its starting to smell like rain.

2016-17 free agency thread (NON WHITE SOX RELATED)

Very curious to see what the terms of this deal are. -
Refs took two points off the board and the team you know the league would rather match up with NE moves on. NFL can be really shady sometimes.
-
KC desperately needs to make a play on defense or ST.
-
And what pitching the Sox would get back from the Braves would almost certainly be left handed. A lefty and three position players is my ideal Q return.
-
Yea this is what I think will happen as well except instead of Martes it will be Perez. It just makes more sense for teams to deal from organizational depth than give up a true blue chipper for Q. I'd rather get that kind of deal from Atlanta than Houston, but if Tucker and Perez are coming back as part of a 4 player deal from the Astros I'm fine with it.

What about Donald Trump now? Can we just enjoy baseball please is that too much to ask?
-
Well we are at that point where we know everything there probably is to know about potential trade partners. Talks may be coming to a head over the next week with Soxfest on the horizon also. Hopefully this isn't one Quintana thread too many.

I dont agree with running it there.

I hate Dallas (I hate the Packers too) but that was a dumb call. nvm there's the grab
-
Controlling the game with Elliott was their best path to victory but Dallas' playcalling since the Pittsburgh game has been more about highlighting how smart they were to draft Prescott. They aren't dead yet, but they should've used Elliott to keep Rodgers off the field as much as possible in the early parts of the game.

He's incredible.

I dont think they ruined Fulmer, but he missed out on time in Charlotte that will have to made up this year and maybe even part of next year.
-
Yea whatever, its not good that almost 10% of the league is relocating in a 3 year span and its really all for the benefit of one market that could not really give a s*** about the sport.
-
These games are terrible and now the league is uprooting a new franchise every offseason for no apparent reason. Fuller has been bad all year except for those first couple weeks. Better off using Miller.

The vanishing role of the mediocre veteran

What do you mean? Like how well Frazier will have to play to be traded during the season? If that's what you're asking I think he just has to be on track to do what he did last year and teams will come calling. -

30+ year old players are not as bankable as they used to be. If I thought Todd Frazier was going to repeat the same season he had last year and I were a GM with a hole at 1b or 3b I'd be buying on him. I wouldn't give up what the White Sox gave up a year ago, but I'd be interested. But I'm not convinced Frazier will get better or even stay the same. Better off taking my chances with a cheap FA or, better yet, an internal option and reevaluating at the deadline. Sox will be able to dump Frazier and Melky then without much effort, but obviously the Sox would prefer to deal them now to free up PA's for guys part of the long term plan. -
Hard to believe how far the NFL has fallen in just three or so years.

.285/.325/.467 His RF defense will be so bad they have to take his bat, which will be playing well, out of the lineup when Rey Lopez comes up midseason. -
"Knockoff SB Nation tries to guess what Baseball America's top 100 would look like" Clickbait, and into the trash it goes.
