Sounds like their DE will be a top ten prospect in the country

Yep…

And no love for the OL in the above article.  Clueless journalism.

Also, their sophomore TE playing for varsity — Jack McNamara (6’5”, 235) has received offers everywhere, and just today from Ohio State.

Trust me.  I didn’t like it either.  My son is coming back from a knee surgery.  I don’t need to see him f*** up another one playing in a meaningless 4th quarter blowout until the last second of the game.

I hear you. Let us know what your son says was the reason. Funny we're talking about leaving starters in maybe too long against Loyola, a team that never loses. Is he giving the kids a day off Saturday this week?

The Freshman and Sophomore teams are playing tomorrow morning so I have to be back to BR for my younger son (Soph.).  Varsity is off.  Older son (Vars.) is going to his girl’s Homecoming in Naperville.

That's neat about your kids. Where is the homecoming? I went 2 years to Bro Rice and two in suburbia. I ran CC in high school at both schools. I hate cross country. My gawd I was miserable.

Does your son mind? The coach knows the kids so I won't blast him. I will say it's perplexing he never gives them a day off. Do they get Sunday off maybe? Maybe Q knows he has state title talent and is not gonna let the kids lose focus even for a moment. I personally think many genius coaches have a 24 hour rule where he let's em enjoy the victory for a full day. I personally love the rout of Loyola. I also think the kids should get a full day off. How do the kids feel bout it? No big deal? Do they want to practice every day? Maybe they do. But even college coaches give kids a day off; NFL too I'd think. If the kids are fine with it, cool. ... Even workout programs of personal trainers include a 'rest day' here and there.

They usually practice on Saturday mornings anyways.  No practice on Sunday.  I’m sure some kids are annoyed, especially kids that don’t live near the school, but as long as they are winning I’m sure they don’t really care too much.

He gives 'em Sunday off so that's good. Maybe he realizes at a Catholic school it's good to have 'em take Sunday off to rest and most to go to Mass, etc. I saw the sophomore standout visited Notre Dame Saturday.

I am not a BR guy, more of a CCL guy but all of them do the Saturday morning walk through.  I think it is a recovery thing, give the bulk of Saturday off and minimize the post game nonsense that was big when Greg and I were in southside catholic schools.

Go to channel 32 Friday night lights interview.  BR coach was on.  The interview was really good.  He seems like a good guy, very well spoken.

I looked at BR schedule.  Starters will get a reduced workload in 4 of last 5 weeks based opponent.  At some point they need to make certain they can play a whole 48 minutes so that made sense.  I am not certain how much they played in first 3 weeks but thinking it wasn't a full 48.

MC v BR will have18 D1 players on the field.

I need to find the interview of Q. I'll say this for BR. Lot of good hires of late. Q to replace coach Badke who had BR ties. Q had none. Bobby Frasor was a great hire and last year's coach was an amazing hire in basketball. Hope the new BB coach has a clue as well. ... Good point about the weekend nonsense when we were in school. Yeah there was a ton of nonsense. Not sure if homes have been built there now but we BR kids and McAuleyites used to meet at Father's Lot at Q of M on Friday and Saturday nights, acquire beer that we brought through St. Xavier's wooded campus into some area just south of the BR track (no football stadium on campus back then). We'd drink the beer and horse around and more than once the cops bright lights shined on us and we ended up sprinting for our lives so to speak. Not sure how we got the beer. I won't say how we got it one weekend even though it's been decades and nobody can be arrested now.

Can I get the marquee network online for free?

I saw some poll and Brother Rice wasn't in the top 10. It had to be some screwup. Anyhow can we beat Mt. Carmel? I hope the players win and stay healthy as well. It's obvious Mt. Carmel will be a state finalist. The question is will their opponent in the finals be Bro Rice?

Will be a great game 11 D1 offers from MC 7 for BR.  BR is #4 in state and MC #1

BR is on Marquee in week 9 so buy it for a month.   Decent games on it every Friday in October.

My younger son is a techie so he managed to install an app called SportsFire on my streaming devices that has a free live Marquee Network stream that is working as of right now.  Here are the instructions if you are a techie as well.  I just installed it on one last streaming device and it was pretty easy…

https://troypoint.com/sportsfire/

My older son who is playing tonight just texted me that Caleb Williams and some other Bears players will be at the game tonight.  I asked him where he heard this but I am still waiting for his response.

Thanks. If we win it's one of the top five wins in school history I'd think.

Simply outmatched.  BR is really good but MC is on another level.

I see on twitter it looks like we at least were down in their territory trying to cut it to one score but they had a goal line stand and an interception. ... Our boys should just take care of business and regroup and hopefully we can beat 'em in the state finals. Are we in the same classification? Too bad Carmel probably could beat some college teams. Proud of our boys. I did not watch it but it wasn't 48-0 like the benet carmel game. If we play again we'd have had no chance had we won tonight. Now we'll have the revenge motive and they'll take us lightly. But they seem just too good for anybody to beat.

Yes, they could have cut it to a one score lead but had an INT.  Later, they also had a chance to stop MC on 4th down and had a PI call against them.  Brutal to watch, and they never replayed the PI call there.  That was a big turnaround in the game.

But also, early in the game they failed to score at all on 1st and goal, and then whiffed on a safety after that.

But yes, I do think this MC team could beat some college teams.  Probably not D1 but likely DIII teams.  I think that’s BR’s only loss of the season the rest of the way.

I’d like to see ESL vs MC.  Those are the two best teams in the state.  Won’t happen b/c 6A vs 8A.  ESL boatraced MC last year, but they are so undisciplined (as always).  BR is 7A.

It begs the question: Which high school program is best over the last 40 years: Is it ESL, Mt. Carmel or Loyola? Those would appear to be the contenders. I love the CCL but it might be ESL.
