Holland is trash, so at this point i'm ok with him being torched. I wish we had more pitching to trade, but i'll take the Ls and hope for the best. Nice to see the large sons hit a few dingers tonight.

What guys? Who on this team is meant to be on a future winning Sox team? Frazier, no; Anderson, yes; second base utility man; Abreu, yes. Catcher, no. Melky, no. CF, no. Avi, maybe. Catcher no. And none of our pitchers are gonna be around for the rebuild so WTF? This is just a throwaway season for some mysterious baseball draft pick who could either be good or totally suck.

Both are toolsy guys finally putting it together. Although to be fair their best tool is by far defense, which is much more subtle. The nice thing is when you play a premium defensive position and play it well (Leury is +3 runs in CF, Yolmer +2.5 at 2B, both pass the eye test as well, granted Leury in a small sample in CF) you don' have to hit as much to be a solid starter. If they can slash 270/320/400 they are decent starters. Anything else is bonus.

 

There are signs that the improvements with the bat are real for both, mostly due to making more contact.

All that said, on a good team, I think Greg may be right. Both have a classic utility guy profile if they can't hit much.
