August 18, 20178 yr QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 08:19 PM) As great as Acuna is, I'll take Jimenez raw power potential (which is basically unlimited) before Acuna's speed/defensive versatility. I'm also a little more wary of Acuna's swing and miss, whereas Jimenez contact ability is off the charts for a guy with his frame. But yea, they are 1-2 in my mind. The only player that rivals them in raw talent is Kopech. A healthy Gleyber Torres has to be somewhere in the conversation...
August 18, 20178 yr A healthy Gleyber Torres has to be somewhere in the conversation... I suspect Jimenez will no longer be a minor leaguer by the time Torres is fully recovered.
August 18, 20178 yr QUOTE (Lillian @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 07:23 PM) Do you know what Rutherford's status is? Not in the lineup again, and not listed with the players on the bench. Got put on the retroactive DL before today's game, I assume a minor injury A local Yankees fan told him how much of a moron Cashman is for dealing him and he laughed
August 18, 20178 yr QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 05:31 PM) Nice, look forwrd to hearing how it goes. Micker's double would have been gone if not for an elevated part of the wall Remillard had an unbelievable series with a few nice defensive plays as well at2B
August 18, 20178 yr QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 09:12 PM) I dont think there are any minor leaguers I would trade for Jimenez. I would consider Acuna (as was said already) and maybe Vlad Jr, but that's it.
August 18, 20178 yr I think that Jimenez will fly through the system a lot more than I originally anticipated. Wouldn't be surprised to see him in Charlotte around late June/early July, and then as the White Sox starting RF on Opening Day in 2019.
August 18, 20178 yr I think this board underrates Vlad, I see him and JImenez very similar. This was why I was so excited to get Jimenez. Offense is just so much more fun.
August 18, 20178 yr Great Falls had 19 runs on 19 hits. Logan Taylor is enjoying feasting on this level, hitting .358 / .441 /.448 and a nice 14% k rate. May be our new Schnurbusch but Taylor was rated as a superb CF. He just turned 23 in June. He could be a nice 4th outfielder a la Engel.
August 18, 20178 yr Also I missed that Yurchak is only 20, about to turn 21. He's still sporting that nice 28 walks to 25 ks (14% k rate, 16% walk rate) with modest power. If he is capable of tapping into more power that's pretty interesting. And even more interesting if he can make it at 3b.
August 18, 20178 yr It's SUPER early, but have to wonder if the Cubs have any buyers remorse on Quintana. Not because of Q, but because of how Eloy has exploded. Again super premature but still....
August 18, 20178 yr QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Aug 18, 2017 -> 11:12 AM) It's SUPER early, but have to wonder if the Cubs have any buyers remorse on Quintana. Not because of Q, but because of how Eloy has exploded. Again super premature but still.... The Cubs got what they needed, especially if Lester is gone any amount of time.
August 18, 20178 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 18, 2017 -> 12:08 PM) The Cubs got what they needed, especially if Lester is gone any amount of time. Jose has an ERA of 3.86 with the Cubs, 6 starts, and it'd be sub-3 if he didn't run into something called a "Paul Goldschmidt" on the wrong day.
August 18, 20178 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 18, 2017 -> 01:58 PM) Jose has an ERA of 3.86 with the Cubs, 6 starts, and it'd be sub-3 if he didn't run into something called a "Paul Goldschmidt" on the wrong day. and they have that for 3 more years .
