September 22, 20178 yr QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Sep 22, 2017 -> 02:47 PM) Surprised nobody else posted this. Quite a long article but worth reading when you get some time. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/09/14/magazine...=www.google.com Someone had an 85,000 word quota to meet. Seriously thou... good stuff.
September 22, 20178 yr I don't know if the White Sox can build a better manager but they can certainly buy one when the time is right in 2019-2020. Contracts can be broken, bought out if you are willing to pay the price. $$$$$.
September 23, 20178 yr I was going to post this the other day. Wonder what becomes of him. If they have him targeted as a future manager, I expect him to move up the ladder much like a prospect.
September 23, 20178 yr Not sure this is the way to go but it seems so "White Sox". I'd rather have someone who learned the ropes from one of the better managers in baseball. I think what Ozzie failed to learn that in modern day sports is to be the smallest voice on the team outside of the game.
September 23, 20178 yr I always think of John Farrell in manager discussion threads. Red Sox fans trash him all the time. An article in local media yesterday points out that he will likely end up winning the AL East for 2nd consecutive year. If so he will be first Boston manager in 48 years to do that. The same guy who was mediocre in Toronto and has had some lousy years in Boston. I think he is a great example of teams win more titles than managers . Terry Francona is another guy who has had success and failure in various career stops.
September 23, 20178 yr This made its way into the minor league threads, but is definitely worth a read.
