  • Judging by the late round names this year I'm guessing we draft Sword McMetalneck

  • Pulled up in the other thread, but here's a few of us guessing who the Sox might/will go with in the 11th.. @Dam8610- Cole Wilcox @fathom- Seth Halvorsen @GenericUserName- Isaiah Carran

Loading up on pitchers. Shilling sounds like a good option for a bullpen guy.

Really awesome day 3 I think. Loading up on legitimate prospects that could have gone much higher, some who just happen to get hurt at the wrong time.

Obligatory "we need a C" pick or is there some upside here?

In the 17th RD, the White Sox select SS Travis Moniot, U of Arizona

No idea, but his numbers were...

.320 avg,  .414 OBP, 3 HR, 9 SB, 11% BB, 13% K. Bats lefty.

Oh shit, Texas Rangers just took a kid from the town in which I am currently in. Strange to hear it announced.

FutureSox says Greene was ranked 244 on the BA rankings

I'm digging all of this toolsy pitching in these rounds.
The departed in Devenski was grabbed in round 25.

In the 18th RD, the White Sox select 3B Romy Gonzalez, Miami U

In the 19th RD, the White Sox select C Gabriel Ortiz, PJ Education HS (Puerto Rico)

FWIW these are the rounds hostetler says they start taking more direction from Getz, also will take some to keep some scouts engaged that may not have had many taken to this point.

edit: would be fun to place these guys on a map.

Luke Shilling did not pitch this year and rarely played in college in general injuries and inconsistency. Another player for them that struggled but has some ceiling

Reminds me of hunter kiel.

Competition for Fulmer: Bilous walked 7.25/9ip. That's impressive!

Gabriel A Ortiz Abreu is a 2018 C/1B with a 5-11 210 lb. frame from Ponce, PR who attends International Baseball Academy. Big and strong build, especially in the lower half, has good body life for his build. Left handed hitter, big leg lift trigger, gets it down in time, short and strong swing, straight pull approach, patient hitter who looks for his pitch and looks to drive it, has very good raw bat speed and the ball comes off the barrel hard, lots of carry on his line drives and will get occasional lift, strong hitting tools. Has good lower half flexibility for his size and showed surprising agility getting out in front of home plate to make plays, long arm action, gets some tail on his throws, can shorten up his actions throwing, 2.06 best pop time. Has a definite chance with the bat.

Rangers just took Jose Valentin's son, Xavier.

Royals just took a kid named "Hunter Wolfe". Dope.

It seems like a lot of PR players have gone off the board since round 8. I'm wondering if the hurricane recovery has brought some players to be more signable than otherwise would have.

I didn't think about that. Kind of how Venezuelan kids are signing cheap. They did talk about how some of the guys may be under the radar just because they didn't get to play or practice as much this year.

In the 20th RD, the White Sox select SS Jimmy Galusky, WV U

So who are the tough signs?

HS picks after the 10th round will be the toughest, typially.

Schilling, maybe. He can go back and hed only be a junior. As a 20th rounder out of HS he has potential. But what little he has pitched in college hes been bad so who knows.
