Lopez doesn't have unbelievable stuff. If he had a high spin rate on his fastball, he might be able to get away with more but his fastball plays down in velocity to hitters. He might be throwing 96-97

He had a stretch where he basically abandoned the change (and curve) and was a two pitch pitcher.  What is the point of this season if a guy like Lopez isn’t working on developing a third pitch?  And

But, you have to remember that in THIS game he is struggling so that means the Magic is over and he’s washed up

Artie Lewicki is a name that you’d see on 1957 Topps card.

Sox will win tonight. It’s going to be a good series.

I actually like Ricky sending Yolmer there. He needs to do that more instead of bunting.

Another caught stealing?  FFS

(Something about Todd Steverson)

My god, that was one of Yoan's worst at bats of the season.  Swinging through meatball 92 mph 2-0 fastball and then taking fastball right down the plate for strike 3.

At least Wimpy actually questions the thought process of the Sox hitters.  Anderson took a total meatball after the pitcher had just walked 2 hitters, and Wimpy was quite frustrated.

Steverson and Sparks (what does he do exactly?) should both be gone just because of Moncada.

So if the Sox is rebuild is gonna take 5-6 years before they field a competitive team, then Detroit has to be looking at close to a decade of rebuilding right?

Nice hitting by palka

Good inning. Lopez should get a W tonight.

I wonder how many times we've said that this year only to watch the pen cough it up.

Engel swinging the lumber again tonight

And that throw was awesome, even though the guy scored. I still don't see a starting player here long term, but it's nice to see him doing some good things.

I’m sorry, did Yoan just get beat by a 90 MPH fastball there?

Sad. Can’t help but think the worst with him sometimes.

Moncada had that base stolen in the earlier at bat Engel swings. Moncada has 4 straight throw backs to 1st, Ricky calls a straight steal after that and gets thrown out. Yea.. makes sense.

Benetti isn’t too bad paired up with Wimpy.

Why is Omar setting up on the outside corner on a 3-0 pitch to a terrible hitter?  Lopez in trouble, as his fastball zip is down this inning.

Another bad 2 strike pitch. He desperately needs to find a strikeout pitch if he wants to be a quality starter.

I’m just hoping there are some coaching changes in the offseason and new voices can get through to him.  We’ve seen what it’s like when things are going well, but Yoan is an absolute mess right now and it’s painful to watch.

God his changeup is so bad. Three horrible 2 strike pitches this inning.

Not sure what to think about Rey. He has a great arm, but they seem to be really be onto him. Change up is either good or horrible. The horrible ones end up in the OF grass.

Legit looks like he has a hole in his bat on anything not inner half.  The 92 mph one he missed in the first at bat was something awful.

Don't worry, Cooper doesn't care about strikeouts.  This inning is exhibit A why they are important.
