Hopefully his recent poor performance was related to the bad tooth and he can now finally start swinging at borderline pitches.

That was a fuck up I thought only the Sox were capable of pulling off.

  • All those damn Twinkies finally caught up to him

We managed to put Bauer on the DL.

Gio follows up one of his best curves of the year with a garbage pitch...hope his family has a job for him lined up in Hollywood.

Who is announcing the game with Benetti?

Wimpy.

So Covey is our "opener" and Giolito takes over in the 2nd?

Now would be a good time for Avi to stop slumping.

Hey some cluster luck . 3 hits in a row equaling 2 runs.

Man I hope Abreu is with us still when we are good, and hopefully he is still as good in 2-3 years as he is now.

On another note, Matty D is really starting to show me he doesnt have a spot on this team next year.

Giolito last 6+ starts

40 ip, 32 hits, 21 ER, 17 walks, 35 strikeouts, 4.73 era

Guess we can live with two back end starters for Eaton, and cross our fingers on Dunning’s health/recovery.

Just awful pitch selection.

Acuna, Jr., pretty good...7 homers in his last 30 at bats.

I think everyone should just take a deep breath when it comes to  Giolito, Lopez and even Covey ad well as Moncada It seems the expectations are alway a twenty game winner if a .300 plus hitter  in their first season or two. They  have the talent and they just need to gain experience

Giolito is missing tons of bats lately. That is a really good sign. He misses way more bats than than Lopez since he got his delivery straight. The curve has also reappeared. Look for him to have a big final 6 weeks. If he can fix the first 2 inning bugaboo I think he'll be a solid #2-3 at least. If people think that Lopez has more potential than Giolito they're nuts.

I agree with Giolito and Moncada, disagree with Lopez and Covey.

Giolito hitting 94-96 all game long is really encouraging to see too.

Yup. Velocity slowly returning. It was all mechanical with him. As he gets more comfortable with his delivery expect him to start to turn it around.

Image result for jump to conclusions office space

Lopez might be better suited as a closer...but he will get at least one more year starting.

Covey to the bullpen as well, obviously.

He has to put things together for at least a half season before we can declare anything resembling a win...so let’s see where Giolito’s velocity is to start next season.  Then we’ll know the mechanical changes are taking.

What offspeed junque is Lopez supposed to use to get hitters off his fastball? He has nothing. His stuff absolutely won't play in the bullpen. It is starting or mopup for him.

I don't disagree, but it is still way too early for him. Ideally he would have been fixing his issues in Charlotte, but the options issue got in the way of that.

Abreu has to make that play...same with SANCHEZ.

Hard to accurately judge these pitchers with so many mistakes behind them on a consistent basis.

I must be nuts then, because I think Lopez has more potential than Giolito.

Here comes headcase Lucas folding at the first sign of pressure.

First walk of the game...he will end up with 2-3 more earned runs due to the relievers when the first two plays should have been made and he would have had an easy inning.

Luckily Gerber might be the worst hitter in MLB...
