If it's Harper and Jimenez at the corners, they will need an Engel type defender in the middle.

Billy Hamilton maybe?

I'm good with the Sox bringing him in. I like his speed and defense in CF. Just let him hit 9th and cover all of the outfield. Engel can be a late inning defensive sub.

If they bring back Shields, they deserve every attendance woe and 0.1 broadcast rating they receive.

It would be just...not sure if there are words to describe the apathy that his reappearance would engender.  Yet you could just imagine Don Cooper pushing for exactly such a move behind the scenes.

They won’t bring him back.  First, he’s a bad pitcher that offers zero upside.  Second, the last thing Hahn wants is an everyday reminder of the Tatis trade when young Fernando is potentially making headlines.  It simply won’t happen.

If Hahn cares about the effect of the Tatis trade should be fired immediately. Some trades will backfire. He needs to move forward and not worry about the past.

What he should do and what people will do are not one and the same though.  It’s only human nature to not want a constant reminder of their biggest fuck-up.  That being said, I’m not suggesting that would be the only reason Hahn would not bring him back.  He’s simply not good anymore and if you’re Rick why not bring someone in with more upside and less baggage?

We really don't need more LHP.  We have four young legitimate left handed relievers with MLB experience.

Agreed.  Fry is a lock for a spot.  Bummer & Frare will compete for the second lefty spot.  And Benuelos will compete for the long-reliever role.  I don’t see us adding another lefty unless it’s to a minor league deal.
