Eddie Robinson- Oldest Living Player

Featured Replies

Val Heim passed away. He turned 99 earlier this month. He played for the Sox in 1942.

The "new" oldest living MLB player is now Eddie Robinson, He turns 99 next month. He played for the Sox a few years and was an All-Star first baseman in 1951 and 1952 as a Sox player.

It’s so cool I got to see the oldest living player score 12 points on 25 shots

You ever hear the story about when ESPN 1000 had Eddie Robinson on, but the hosts were under the impression it was Eddy Curry so they asked all the questions as if it was Curry.....and ERob just went with the interview answering questions as Curry ?

He was 100 years old, not 99. As an oldster who became a Sox fan in 1952, I remember him along with a few others from the early GO GO years. He had a nice career and played with almost every team in the AL, sort of wierd that his best year with home runs was with the Sox while playing in cavernous Comiskey Park.

Robinson was brought to the White Sox by Frank Lane along with Pierce, Fox, Minoso, and others.

Yes, he would have been 101 in December. This thread is almost two years old.

He had a podcast too. Not sure if you can listen to them here...
