2.4 for Robert is so sexy.

Why would you use 2019 numbers instead of projections?

Well, already explained it, but because I didn't want to mess with regressions or progressions and look at it flat.

Just for comparison, the projections for 2019 put the White Sox's lineup at 10.1 and they produced 7.5 (and for some reason in February the projections knew not to include Jay at all, I have no idea how the system knew that).

What is going on with 1b here?

My guess is Alonso being gone

No he has a point that makes no sense. DH is clearly taking Alonso's performance, but Abreu was an average starter last year who put up 2 WAR as a 1b.

2b is even a little odd as Yolmer was worth more than that and he spent most of his time there, plus Mendick wasn't a negative player.

Feels like double counting of Alonso is occurring

IIRC, when you click on positional totals on Fangraphs it includes the total fWAR for anyone who played that position.  I could be wrong, but I don’t think it actually splits each player’s contribution by position.

Sorry I missed. I would argue that looking at it flat IS the projected version.

But I see now that other people have pulled up the projection tables.

That is nice. If you add 2 war for the bench that is almost 25 WAR which would have ranked them 6th in the AL. There is also upside for more as only abreu and EE are older guys.
