Avi was basically worse than Mazara until he began realizing his potential at age 26 and became an All-Star.

So yeah, age matters.

And just like Avi, Mazara may be on another team by the time that happens.  Hence, my comment on only having 2 years of control.

They both have 2 years of control. Do you need help moving the goal posts?

If Mazara goes by the same development timeline as Avi, in Quin’s scenario, the Sox may give up on him before he booms.

He never gave a timeline for Mazara. He gave an example of a player that developed at 26.

And if he does boom with the Sox within the next two seasons, he becomes a free agent and another team can steal him away in free agency.  While Mazara’s youth is great, his short two years of control negates quite a bit of its value.

Totally relevant in a thread about Avi Garcia signing a 2 year deal. Totally.

Avi Garcia is no longer a Sox player, yet this thread is in Pale Hose Talk.  Discussions around Mazara are more relevant to the Sox. Totally.

I thought that’s what the MLB Catch All thread was for.

It's not who the thread's about, it's the length of the deal. Good lord, you're having a bad trolling day.

Avi supposedly had 3 year offers out there but wanted to bet on himself after the new CBA.

Yeah that's at least a little ominous.

I believe Mazara’s arbitration number is estimated at around $6 million for 2020.  If that number jumps to $9 or $10 million for 2021, it isn’t that far off from Avi’s new deal. Also, Mazara’s age doesn’t matter very much with only two years of control, unless you are talking about extending him.

Lol the dude is arb eligible in 2021. It’s not a fucking commitment. This isn’t hard to understand. I love how you use Mazara’s 2 years of control as a negative both in terms of not wanting him for 2 years (while ignoring he’s arb eligible) and also a negative in that if he blossoms he’s gone after 2 years. It’s hilarious.

Mazara won’t be on the Sox in 2021 unless he has a great 2020. He will be non tendered for a grand total of $0 USD. If he is on the Sox in 2021, it’s because he played great and they’re happy to pay him the $9M or whatever he’ll get in his final year of arb. If he blows up to the point the Sox are disappointed he becomes a FA after 2021, that is a good thing not a bad thing!

Your trolling knows no bounds.

I fully expect Mazara to be the Sox right fielder for the next two seasons, whether he booms or if he continues his consistent 4 years of mediocre production.  It’s simply the way the Sox work.

You have to block the boppers and hormonals for your own sanity. Off the record.
