I do not know that sox believe in Mendick as SS. As it stands sox do not really have a backup 3b or SS. I know the answer is "leury" but I don't think sox believe that.

Mendick did play 3rd ,SS and 2nd base in the minors . If he can do that in the majors he won't be around long. I think the Sox do see him as a jack of all trades type but do they hold unto him or upgrade ? I'm biased so I want him kept around.

might be worth a camp invite but he sucks.  It would have to be a real upgrade on Leury to make it worthwhile to add someone to the 40 man imo.  Not really sure what's out there.  It's too bad they passed on Iglesias he would have been perfect.

34 years old and hasn’t been good in 2 seasons.

That said, if he’s willing to accept a minor league deal considering all the money he stole from the Angels already, I’d take him.

My god, the Angels signed him for 3-years and $38 million.  Brutal.

Spring training invite is about all I would do.

Yeah but as he graduated he became more exclusively 2b. I'm not sure he played SS past W-S.

In his brief time with the Sox last year he got into 11games in the field. 5 at SS and 3 apiece at 3rd and 2nd. 8 of the 11 he was the starter, 3 at SS, 3 at 2nd base and 2 at 3rd base.

There you go, that's good. If sox view him that way that's great. Seeing our left side, I wouldn't mind them returning Saladino as a guy to keep in Charlotte. Not blocking anyone of interest there.

Pretty sure I saw Saladino signed in a Japan a couple weeks ago.

I really like this signing.

I'll be disappointed but not surprised if this is the Sox last "major" signing before spring training.

But just because the owner's goal is to keep the base thirsty with the rumors of contention doesn"t mean the players have to buy into his crap.

I hope this team wins 105 games.
