Plesac and Clevinger Gone; For how Long?

Featured Replies

I agree with the opinion that 2 starts in this season is definitely not nothing.  And adding the very real threat of messing with service time, I'm sure both Plesac and Clevinger realize now that it is not nothing also.

Perhaps Clevinger threatened to opt out for the remainder of the year if the service time game was played thus forcing Cleveland to bring him up.

They would have traded him to the yankees immediately if he threatened them. Plesac was told he still doesnt have a place on the team...yet he was not the one that lied to the team and got on an airplane which could have potentially infected the entire team had he caught it- including 2-3 high risk players/staff.

I do agree that many teams would not have gone to this length...but why is Clevinger getting the okay and Plesac isnt?

Wow. What kind of nonsense is that? > 6 days until a Plesac trade.

Or this is a showcase for Clevinger and Plesac “has an opportunity” at the Major League level in the same time frame.

So odd.

Or one showed more remorse than the other - has responded better since the criticism?  Who knows.

I think we, as White Sox fans in particular, are in no position to criticize either, since our players only started wearing masks after the MLB cracked down after outbreaks, and then they put up with them for all of a week before going back to basically no masks and no social distancing (at least from the camera shots I have seen). Our team needs to do better.

Agreed, and while everyone should take it equally seriously I don't think it can be overstated that Tito has heart problems and they have a SP recovering from cancer.

Somewhat speculative here, but it seems to me that both were sent down until now as punishment.

Now that the punishment is over, CLE has decided separately(ish) of the COVID stuff that they don't want to bring Plesac back up. Maybe they prefer the guy they replaced him with, maybe its to keep him in bubble wrap for a trade, maybe its because they are squeezing another year of service time out of him (I think he was closer than Clevinger?), or maybe its some combination of these, but I don't think he is still down as punishment.

Nice video, Zach. Never forget!

Although I think the Indians know Plesac isn't as good as he'd been.

Don't mistake it; they both lied to the team. The difference was Plesac got caught by a monitor and Clevinger somehow didn't.
