We don’t like injured players but Boston does.

We have been hearing all year how we have more injured regulars than nearly any team in baseball... outside the starting rotation (knock on wood.)

No room to brag with Jimenez hurt yet again and clearly tempting fate with Vaughn at second base.

Do you think the Indians, Tigers or the Royals will catch up to the Sox?

Nats selling off anything they can. Maybe white Sox can get yan Gomes tomorrow. Dream big!

That wouldn't be a bad guy to get as backup catcher, even when Grandal gets back. The only problem is that he's a below average framer.

So fair to say that every AL contender has now acquired a better player than the White Sox?

If you count the Blue Jays as a contender, I'd say we've done better than them so far. But they'll probably make more moves.

White Sox are the team acting like they get there all the time and there will be plenty of chances despite being the one team who absolutely should never take for granted getting there given their track record. Its a shame.

I will 100% agree with this if very little happens before the deadline tomorrow. But the sentiment seems to always have been here that it wasn't necessary to make any strong moves or give Rodon a break and that the future means more than this year. I have been somewhat scathing arguing that the words put forth by Hahn and the previous actions of Reindorf always promises a better tomorrow while ignoring the present and for some unknown reason many here trust them.

Where else are you going to upgrade though? Unless you think Eloy, Robert or Grandal isn't coming back 100%, there really isn't anywhere to put someone else.

We do, but a reliever isn't going to be classified as a "better player" than what others have acquired.

We are so afraid of trading away significant pieces due to what happened to the Cubs’ window as a result of the Chapman and Q trades that we’re just kind of stuck in limbo…just like our managerial situation.

Easier to blame injuries or youth/inexperienced than front office mistakes.

Buys them another year.

They’ll probably hint at signing a Verlander and pretty much stand pat in the offseason and call the Lynn extension their big move for next year, along with Kopech joining the rotation.

Kimbrel would qualify as an impact or difference making player just as Scherzer, Gallo, Marte and various others that have been traded or will be traded today.

I haven't really considered catcher among our more pressing needs but this is a good idea. Of course he just was reinstated after an IL stint for an oblique injury so there's the build in meds excuse right there. However he is considered a very good defensive catcher. He's RH and hits LHP  better than RHP pitching but definitely an upgrade on Collins (-3 fWAR) who you wouldn't want to see in a playoff game catching our starters or relievers  the rest of the season for that matter. Whatever helps our pitchers the most should matter a lot.

There probably won't be a lot of competition for him. I only see the A's and Jays listed in MLBTraderumors.
