I think we should be avoiding playing Pollock on cold weather days.

Good thing it's hot in October in Chicago

Pollock suffered his injury Saturday after leading off the third with a single. He is 4-for-7 with a double, RBI and run in two games.

“He is back in Arizona for the birth of a child,” Sox general manager Rick Hahn said Tuesday. “We knew that obviously he wasn’t going to play Sunday after needing to leave Saturday’s game with what would have been a paternity leave. He was going to be away from us for five games.

“Not necessarily knowing how he is going to feel on Day 6 and wanting to err on the side of caution, we thought putting him on the IL is probably the more prudent move.”

Lambert, 27, described his spring as a “little slow.”

“I threw a couple of times, mainly because I had COVID and I was a little bit behind going into spring,” he said. “But it was good, it was healthy. I threw the ball pretty well. Just want to continue to build off that.”

Sounds like they are being very cautious with the injuries. Let's hope it pays off this fall. Really sounds like Pollock could have DH'd this weekend reading between the lines but they want to just shut him down for a week and a half and go from there, which hey I can't argue with right now.

If he’s still experiencing discomfort sure keep him sidelined, but otherwise this seems like an awfully long and somewhat arbitrary amount of time to keep him out for what is hopefully a very minor muscle pull associated with ramping up for the season.

Eno said with oblique strains you can usually double what they say, i. E when a player has an oblique strain an it is usually more like 4 weeks rather than 2

Could be caution, but I also think it’s a tad easier to give Pollock more “injury” time off due to paternity leave. Gives him time with the kid’s first 2 weeks or so. Probably a combination of both…

Just my 2 cents…

Thank gawd we have Cueto pitching tonite. ***
