Guardians. Not hard at all.

It is if you’re older than fifty years old and have been saying the same team name since 1976.  In fact, it’s not so cleverly embedded in the name Guardians and the uniform script is exactly the same…

I’m going to guess you are 33-35.  Try living another twenty years and we can then compare notes on franchise name changes that are difficult to get used to.  If I’m not dead already.

No, it isn’t.

He actually has a point. Apparent by the 50+ times Steve, Jason, Chuck, Ozzie, Frank, and Gordon have already referred to the Guardians as the Indians this year. They even have a jar they put $5 in every time there is a misnomer.

They were called the Indians for 106 years up until 6 months ago. Excuse some of us for not immediately getting it right. It's not us trying to fight the change, just an inadvertent mistake.

Oh no he has clearly said he’s trying to fight the change and is using a name with racist origins deliberately.

The X-dians can brand themselves however they want, everyone in baseball should just call them the Spiders and be done with it.

At the rate you're going I might have to convert into an independent voter, lol.

Fight the change?  What is this, Do the Right Thing, Part II?

That's a name at least that can't be confused for their former franchise moniker.  They just got too clever.

Spider Savages works for me.

That's disappointing honestly.

At this stage of the year it doesn't take a whole lot to upset algorithms.  A week ago we were second.  At this rate, we will be leading for the #1 draft pick by next week.

If that’s what it takes to get Dylan Crews…maybe.

Nobody expected that 2013 team to go from a pennant race the previous September to drafting Rodon third the following summer, either.

And it would certainly get rid of Hahn and/or LaRussa or Kenny Williams.  Something would have to give.

Goal to compete in 2023 but most likely 2024-25

Hold:  Robert, Vaughn, Cease (control through 2026), Jimenez (control through 2024 plus two more expensive option years), Crochet, Moncada (through 2024 plus $25 million option), Sheets, Lynn (until he proves to be healthy)

Undecided, depends on offers/interest:  Bummer

Start exploring potential market/s for beginning in early June if no turnaround or managerial change:  Anderson, Giolito, Kopech (control through 2025, would have to be absolutely blown away with an offer)

Salary dumps to regain financial flexibility and replenish AA/AAA quality depth (plug n play guys like the Olson trade to ATL):

Grandal, Hendriks, Keuchel (almost all dead money at this point), Abreu, Pollock, Lynn (depends how he looks upon return), Graveman, Kelly

Looking at those choices, the hardest decisions would be about the futures of Moncada and Kopech…obviously TA7 would be the most controversial/polarizing of all.  The writing already seems to be on the wall with Lucas’ eventual fate.
