Down a bit on the slider as you can see, but velocity normally increases throughout the season. I would say yes.

But no flame emoij's for hard hit balls on his statcast page. He needs to pick it up.

Mena strikes out 2 but gives up a solo shot on the fastball in the 1st.

He also looks thicker and got a haircut since last season.

Mena throwing some real nice looking sliders and changeups this inning. Strikes out the side. What a beast. 5Ks in 6 outs.

The secondaries are very good. If he somewhere finds a few more clicks on the fastball watch out.

Around 93-94 according to the broadcast. He can top out a bit higher from what I saw last year. He's only 20 though. Maybe there is more in the tank? I don't know s%*# about projection. I'm just an amateur that likes watching prospects.

Mena through 4. 9k

It's very encouraging to see nice starts from Thompson & Mena on consecutive days like this

A walk, strikeout on a pretty changeup, a fly out and ground out that inning. 71 pitches through 4.

Mena's night is done after 4+. walk & a bloop single leaves runners on the corners with nobody out.

A walk and a bloop single ends the night for Mena. Great first outing regardless.
