Chris Lanzilli moving from Kanny to WS.

Eddie Park back from the IL.

I'm guessing Nishida shifts over to LF.

Batista continues to look very solid. Allowed a single in the first but Harris got the CS:

6U/6D with 3K in the second and third. Allowed a double and walk in the 4th, but stranded them with a FC to 3B and a GIDP.

The game was flying by since Kanny bats weren't doing anything either, but they're on the board now.

Nishida walk and Park single put runners at the corners to set up a Gonzo bloop RBI single. Still two on, no outs.

That bloop single depresses me more than if Gonzalez had struck out. Everything that does not work about his swing/approach was evident in that one play.

I was right.  He just struck out looking at 3 pretty much down the middle and I am not MORE depressed about his chances.

Batista done. 5IP 2H 0R 0ER 1bb 5K 64 pitches/43 strikes.

I saw an infographic recently pretty much showing how almost every other 1st round college bat has been tearing it up. Much sads.

Harold hinted that maybe that pick was bigfooted from upstairs. May not be Shirley's fault, but in a historically deep draft like this, you can't afford to shank it.

I would have been happier with Waldrep.

As is their habit, Kanny's bullpen blew the lead. 2-2.

I talked to someone who saw Gonzalez recently and he has concerns about his bat speed.  "That dude has a slow pole."

Woof is Charlotte a wasteland.

Guess I'm only watching the Nastrini pitching half.

No Quero or Popeye for Bham tonight.

Shaw looks dynamic as hell for the Cubs

I will never understand how he was viewed as a first round prospect

Quero's been getting a lot of off days lately.

Gonzalez up, sacks packed, 1 out.

Grounds to the pitcher for a double play.  Weak tapper, very slow to 1b.

He seriously looks more like an UDFA than a first round pick

2Ks for Nick "Nasty" Nastrini in the first, though the second one took 10 pitches.

3U/3D with another K in the 2nd. Throwing a lot of strikes, hitting 95-96.

2IP 3K now. That change up is a real difference maker for him.

Kanny loses thanks to another DP.

Nastrini sure looks like a great pickup. 9 up 9 down. 5Ks.

He looks poised and is throwing strikes.  Very encouraging.
