This is probably one of the worst collapses I can remember. Detroit has basically been in first place all season. Now they might miss the playoffs altogether.

Eerily similar to the Sox and Cleveland in 05.

15.5 game lead trimmed to 1.5 in late September.

Then the Sox told them to shut up.

Cleveland up 6-0 in game 2...hope Detroit are more prepared to hit in Cleveland than the Sox were

Tigers are so cooked. They need Skubal to start at least one game against the Guardians.

Cleveland wins the season series with their next win against the Tigers.

Cleveland is tied for the last playoff spot with Houston now.

Yes, and they hold the tie breaker with a 4-2 season series win over the Astros. They basically have a 1-game lead.

Houston missing out on the playoffs would be great.

Just saw the play that ended the Mariners game. What a catch by Robles and what terrible base running by Houston. The runner that got doubled up wasn't even the tying run. Can't be doing that.

Cleveland up early, Detroit down 3-0 in the 5th...

Tigers went 4-2 vs Astros, otherwise they could have fallen out of the playoff picture by the end of today. Remarkable.

Going to be an interesting week. I’d like to see the Tigers blow it to be honest.

Detroit loses, but Cleveland finally does too.

With Detroit and Cleveland playing each other, the Astros probably get in by default because of that. Plus they're playing the A's.

I think Boston could be the team to drop out. They're about to go up against the Blue Jays in Toronto and they have a .667 win% at home. Astros will face the A's and Angels to end the season. On the road, but shouldn't be very difficult matchups.

But Detroit will face Boston after playing Cleveland. Really interesting schedule to end the season. Could go any number of directions!

Three runs score for CLE against Skubal without a single ball out of the infield...except an errant between the legs throw attempt to first on a but that went down the RF line instead.

3-2 CLE Top 7

And Fry hit in the nose by a 98 mph sacred bunt up and in that barely glanced off his bat ... Skubal visible shaken.

Was a ball in there too to advance Ramirez.

Craziest Mark Buehrle-sequel attempt you will ever see in that situation. ill-advised.

Schneemann 2/14 pinch hitting.

So of course he laces a two out two run oppo single.

5-2 Guards.

If the Tigers can't win with Skubal starting they're hopeless.

Scoring 3 without hitting the ball out of the infield is so Guardians.

Sox vibes are downright middle of the pack in the division right now compared to the decimated Twins and collapsing Tigers...

Ummm...stack up those lineups and pitching staffs between Detroit and the Sox.

They're in it in the Central until Skubal leaves as a Free Agent.

Plus Twins Tigers Guardians all have the better farm systems as well.

Looks like the Astros about to fall one game behind both CLE and Detroit...five to go.

Altuve and Correa still getting booed at that minor league park years later for garbage can banging scandal.

Maybe, but I'm not saying they have bad rosters or bad farms long term necessarily, just bad vibes in the moment.

A repeat Cy for Skubal and having a pair of top 10 prospects isn't going to placate Tigers fans if they end up missing the playoffs after they were supposed to have the division locked up months ago. Offense has cooled off, the non-Skubal starters are struggling, they are 1-10 in their last 11 with 4 of those losses being to the team they let catch them.

It's precisely because they have the best roster in the division that having the same post-ASB record as the Sox has such terrible vibes lol. For us it's a bit of improvement, for them it's a disaster that has them hanging on to a WC by half a game.

As for the Twins...their fans have been despondent since the deadline, and haven't seen enough from the remaining roster to change that. Worst record in MLB since the ASB, worst manager in the division, locker room unrest including Ryan allegedly wanting out.

Their best players on both sides of the ball are all 30+ with no sale or big spending on the horizon, while Lee, Lewis, and their trade returns have struggled. Their two players 25 or younger worth 1.0+ fWAR is the lowest total in the division.

Heck, they can't even fully enjoy their win today because Keaschall got hurt; Lopez also ended his season early getting hurt on a diving play in his last start.

Better record, sure. But arguably worse vibes.
