Nicky Lopez placed on waivers

There is no reason Nicky should be playing any more this season, ALL at bats should be going to Baldwin!!!

Baldwin is hurt apparently.  Of course they won’t put him on the 10 Day.  They’ll just play short for a week.

Too bad Schriffen isn't a GM. He'd pick up Nicky in a hearbeat. He said last night he's really settled into the leadoff spot.

  • He really seems to be a guy Soxtalk will bring up in 15 years...."remember when they played Nicky Lopez almost every day that season? Boy did he suck!!!"

  • Can the owner be put on waivers????????????

Do the Sox continue to do this to save Jerry some money?  What is up with this?  They have been doing it for the last few years.

At this point, does it really matter.

I know they changed the rules but can they still expand the rosters on Sept.1st which is tomorrow.

They could call up Ramos. Oh right.

From my sources for a story I did in November 2022:

“The White Sox playing shorthanded started in 2007 when Jermaine Dye got hurt and Kenny Williams refused to call up Brian Anderson or Ryan Sweeney. Maybe they were cheap, maybe they wanted to protect Herm’s record of keeping guys off the DL.” (Author’s Note: Herm Schneider was the Sox longtime head trainer and for years the Sox were among the league leaders in keeping players healthy.)

“Jake Peavy made the comment one time, ‘They have no reservations about playing shorthanded.”

Exactly. Keeping guys who may be on the 40 man in 2026 healthy should be the priority while having short timers eating innings. There isn't any reason to even play this month, but they have to field a team. It's like the NFL pre season.
