Other teams are trying to get Juan Soto.  We are pining for some guy named Ben Rice.

I don't see how Eder could have any value right now. Would you swap in a better-performing minor league pitcher, someone maybe like Burke who could help them this season?

Maybe, depends on the prospect.  But Rice is a 26 year old, bat only player and not in the Yankees’ immediate plans given his initial struggles last year.  I don’t think the price will be all that crazy.  I also don’t think Eder has zero value.  A LH reliever has value and that outcome is still possible.

Let's face it...the Yankees got a LH reliever from the White Sox this year for a lower price than a prospect.

Who?

Tim Hill? Picked up after being released.

No reason for them to go after an Eder when they can just wait for guys to be released.

They also got that Cousins guy who pitched good for them.

I guess no one should ever trade for relievers then.

They’re not talking about trading someone good for Eder. Rice is more of a JAG than prospect.

Weird. I missed all the comments crying that the White Sox weren't coaching Tim Hill up to the great pitcher we all knew he could be. I only remember the ones calling for him to be DFAed, or never even signed in the first place because he had no business in the game of baseball, he sucked so bad.

Quite frankly, yes, Minor League relievers are garbage. Anyone remember when Rick Hahn spent 2018-2019 piling them up and then got literally 0 big league relievers out of the ones he traded for?

Show me that he's actually able to have some success as a reliever. Dude literally has zero value right now. There is a good chance that he could be moved through waivers right now without being claimed. You're literally saying "They should give us this player for free".

To be fair, I wasn't here because Chris Getz felt the need to willingly sign a player who no one else in the league wanted because he beats women.

Then pick him up when he's put on waivers, same as Eder.

Agreed. I would actually think you could probably get Rice for less than an Eder.

I seriously doubt he could be moved through waivers.  Have you seen the type of guys that get picked up on the regular?

Like a guy with an ERA of 10 at AAA?

Just do me a favor, don't come back in a year if this Rice guy puts up a 1 WAR season and say that you called him being ok...because you're not willing to trade anything for him.

Damn, someone ate their Wheaties this morning with all these hard flexes.  You word for word asked me if I would trade a better prospect than Eder for Rice and I replied “Sure, it depends on the prospect”.  You’re obsessed with the Eder part of the idea (which I came up with in two seconds because an MLB.com writer had him as part of a mock trade to the Yankees) whereas the point was trying to buy low on Rice.  And while I disagree on Eder’s value, I would trade a better pitching prospect for him like I already stated.  But keep on flexing brother and get that anger out of your system.

And like I said earlier in this thread, I wanted him as part of a Cease package last year.  Does that count as being willing to trade something for him?

Plan? Ya’ll think there’s a plan?? I think it’s pretty much this:

Get a new manager and some new coaches

Trade the G

Try to trade R

Field any team that costs next to nothing

Play ball.

You still don’t know he was cleared? I thought this had already been explained to you repeatedly

Mike Clevinger beat up at least one woman and has other abuse allegations against him and Chris Getz paid a premium price for that in an offseason where he spent the whole time trying to find leadership.

I wonder if Red Sox fans are now boycotting their team too

Ah the famous compliment, being compared to Red Sox fans. Well done Getz.

Continue to beg for a new ballpark funded by taxpayers.

And that should about cover it for the next 5 years.
