He was so bad last year though that picking him up as a flip candidate would have been risky. Yeah, I get that. In my opinion, they shouldn’t have signed anyone.

Rojas was veteran insurance in the case of a complete collapse like last year. If Vargas is indeed hitting, there isn't any real need for Rojas. If Ramos starts hitting, there really isn't any need for Rojas. The case of a complete collapse DID happen. Does it even matter that we are still waiting for Rojas to play his first game at this point? Edited April 30 by WhiteSox2023

You've been saying that they should be giving at-bats to guys like this to develop at the pro level. They are. While Vargas' numbers are bad, his mechanics are coming around lately. I'd consider a complete collapse as all of them with OPS's below .500.

Getzy signed a a guy who can't his his weight, can't play SS, and whose best spot is 3B as "veteran insurance"... I love me some Josh Rojas but he was always a square peg here with the players already on the 40 man. But lets not question the wisdom (or lack thereof) of our infalable GM... It didn’t make sense to begin with. When I heard the Cubs had interest in Rojas, THAT actually made sense.
46DidIt
Rojas can play outfield and would be a preferable option to someone like Palacios imo. If it were up to me, I'd dump Vaugn, Palacios and Dalbec in favor of Elko, Fletcher and Rojas. They could DH Benintendi and have Rojas in left and Fletcher in right against righties Edited May 1 by 46DidIt 1
46DidIt
Rojas in that scenario could still back up 2b, 3b and in effect 1b, since you can put him at 3b or 2b and plug in Vargas or Sosa at 1b with Beni in left and Fletcher or Taylor in RF
