He's only thrown >50 pitches 3 times with a max of 58

think the team should make more of an effort to 'stretch him out'. he's performed very well and has the pitch mix to be a starter. I don't mind seeing what Civale can offer, but Vasil seems like a guy the team should be thinking about as a starter.

Well, think of how they do it in spring training. They don't just go from 2 to 7 innings. It looks like they're bumping him up 10 or so pitches a game. This is the first time he's finished 4 innings, right? I'm guessing they pretty much flip Vasil and Shane Smith after the All-Star game, moving SS to the bullpen, and having Vasil start.

True and I suspect you're right that that has been the pattern. I was wondering if they could stretch him out in Charlotte, but: 1) the MLB team relies on him to a great extent and 2) my question, is he technically a rule 5 player and can't be sent down? He took a pretty interesting path after the draft, got traded then DFA'd by Tampa and didn't immediately go back to his original team. Then as I understand it, we picked him up off the waiver wire. Dunno the 'letter of the law' on this topic, but it seems like an interesting grey area...whether or not it's in his/the team's best interest to send him to Charlotte.

Either way, glad he's on the team.

Vasil is Rule 5 and cannot be sent down without passing through waivers.

Vasil holds his own in the bigs. There's no reason to send him down.

why the f*** would you PR for Quero? Veneble does some awful s%*# man. He might be a leader of men but FFS.

I don't think Quero scores from 2nd on Tauch's hit, and probably not from third on the Meidroth groundout either.

looking at his statcast just now you're probably right. I'll have to reconsider. I figured he was average, he's like slower than vaughn by metrics.
