Houser, even with how great he's been so far, is allowing over 8 H9 and isn't a strikeout pitcher. This is a recipe for disaster when you are days away from moving him.
July 22, 2025Jul 22 It's only a matter of time before we start seeing pitchers with helmets and possibly even mask cages. Personally, I'd like to see it implemented before someone gets permanent brain damage or killed. It might not be the sexiest thing but it will save lives.

Considering a pitcher has never been killed on the field in the history of baseball in the modern era (since 1900) your suggestion is a little extreme in my opinion.

The Blue Jays had a pitching prospect (Huck Flener) get hit in the eye back in the 90's. Exploded his eye.

Balls are also flying off bats at a much faster speed than ever in the history of the game. And because we are talking about possible life or death, no I don't think it's extreme. The whole reason base coaches wear them is because a coach was killed by a line drive.
July 22, 2025Jul 22 Prior to tonight’s game at Tampa Bay, the Chicago White Sox returned right-handed pitcher Davis Martin from his injury rehabilitation assignment at Class AAA Charlotte, reinstated him from the 15-day injured list and optioned right-hander Wikelman González to Charlotte. — Chicago White Sox (@whitesox) July 22, 2025
