Dbacks trade Josh Naylor to Seattle

It's hard to predict anything really considering the strong chance for a lockout after the 26 season which will definitely impact JR's thinking on spending and of course the fact that we have no idea when Ishbia will actually take over and what his philosophy is going to be.

That's a great point. The White Sox won't be alone in that and it probably doesn't make a great deal of sense to be trying to sign players to long-term deals without knowing the landscape. Most teams will probably have that view so wouldn't hold that directly on the Sox, but plenty of other reasons to question their long-term commitment to spending.

Because you give him money or an extra year that another team won't.

For any free agent, you have to assume that it will take the most attractive offer. Most players don't take home town discounts or less to be part of a rebuild. Maybe you get a veteran who wants to join a powerhouse team, but that's still a guy normally at/near the end of their best years.

only in Sox fan fantasy sports.............players accept less to not play here

so far the above only apply to players like Tauchman and they have hopes of getting traded

I only know of 1 player of that happening with, and it was because his wife wanted to stay on the east coast.

I'd like to be wrong on this but I wouldn't plan on Naylor playing for the Sox.....well maybe 4 years from now

If JR is still running the show this is certainly possible when Naylor is over the hill and willing to work cheap.
