What makes this even more impressive is that the Sox are ranked dead last in umpire scoring so far this season. Anyone who's been watching sees how often we get screwed, and it's actually trackable, n

I literally said the SP 500.

It closed at 130.24 on the date that Jerry bought the White Sox.

It closed at 6664.34 on Friday.

That's a return of 5116.95%.

how dare you!

I think we can all agree, regardless of the specific numbers, that sports is not merely a leisurely, hobbyish money sink...they're making a bunch of money on it. I suspect Cohen is wealthier after buying the Mets...though my conspiratorial thought is that he's simply spending his money before the SEC takes it away.

How did Coach Saban get involved?

Yes I know Sec and Exch Commission.

This isn't about "different perspectives"  It is about a factual statement completely ignored and misrepresented.  Again.  Which is exactly why I bowed out before the inevitable meltdown, again.

29. White Sox (previously: 29)
Kyle Teel. Teel won’t end up reaching 80 games this year, but the 75 or so he has played has shot him to the top of nearly every White Sox statistical leaderboard. (He leads them in WAR, playing less than half a season.) The White Sox have some young exciting position players in Colson Montgomery, Chase Meidroth and Miguel Vargas. But Teel is the best of them.

It would help if the Sox would stop trading for declining prospects and use the July trading period for positive end.

The #3 TB prospect pitching against the Barons was #26 for Seattle a  year ago; their #6 prospect, part of the same Randy A trade, was Seattle #14 a year ago.

Trading for decliners is lazy.  And one thing Getz shouldn't be is lazy.  He should be all over the other teams' systems, including his buddies in Tampa.

Because most of the dudes we are trading are flawed themselves.  No franchise was paying up for a dude like Hauser.  It does take two to tango.

I don't think many teams give up valuable prospects in July.  So many trades are often rentals.   Trade just to trade is basically it for bad teams along with paying a player not to play for them.   So often the consistent winning teams come out ahead in those but even that is temporary if they don't extend them.

They aren't known for fixing flaws either.

.426 pct, roughly. 69 wins across 162.

Sounds like some version of success to me...the only difference is going from Sean Burke to now Shane Smith as the big hope for the coming season.

So much for progress since the All Star break.  Tied for 24th now and could easily be in 27th before the weekend is over.

With the Tigers and Mets winning tonight and the Getz’s losing again they are 26th in the league since the All Star break, which is in fact better than 29th.
